Wow! Very nice !!! I converted one of the animated GIFs floating around here to an android bootanimation.zip that I use on my tablet in addition to two custom boot logos (both showing The RX8 rotary emblem + RX-8 badge).
If we had a couple more sequenced pictures of your jpeg I could have a much nicer looking bootanimation....

Just an update to my question
The following are fully compatible on a 2010 GT and presumably any other RX8 equipped with the Bose audio system:
Metra 70-7903T Mazda CX-7 2007 Turbo Wire Harness
Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface
Rockford Fosgate RFI2SW Adapts High Level Speaker to Low Level RCA Adapter
The 7903T adapter includes a duplicate harness plug that should allow you to plug in your old Radio to set the clock. The wiring is long enough to route towards the passenger foot area, so you can hide the plug behind the radio and pull it out whenever you need to reset the clock.
Because of Bose equipped cars have an amplifier, you'll want to use the pre-amp outputs instead of wiring the speaker outputs from the head unit harness directly to the vehicle harness. Just wire the Rockford RCA adapters directly to the Metra vehicle harness. You could also hack up some old RCA wires as well I'm sure.
I purchased everything from Amazon.
Hope this helps anyone else installing an aftermarket head unit into a S2 car with the Bose system not experienced in car audio installs.
