BHR Ignition issue?
So I installed the BHR ignition kit the other day and now at hightower rpms above 7500k it's missing only under light throttle though if I'm at wot it doesn't miss. I'm almost positvie that I got the order right what elese could be causing this. Mabey a loss plug wire? I'm still using the Stock plugs but they only have 9000 miles on them could that be it? Should I have rest the ecu any help please?

I'd start with reseting the ECU's eprom (on series 1 it's the 20 brakes at ignition on) and I would check the plug condition (maybe a little cleaning with chemicals and a wire brush) and make sure all the wires are seated well. I will make the assumption you chose a good ground since you don't have issues under stress.
If all that checks out and your still having issues you can: 1) Use a timing light on each wire to verify firing (but if it was such an issue I would think you'd see startup/idle issues), 2) Could run fuel injector cleaner, the injectors may have a an issue when not opened up (kinda a shot in the dark), 3) Could be a vacuum leak that is causing the system to lean out (I believe the RX-8 like many other OBDII's use Open Loop fueling below a certain TPS reading), 4) If you know someone with an OBDII logger or a scanguage2 see if you can get sensor readings from the time of misfire.
Couple other things to think about, OBDII for emissions reasons prefers Open Loop where the car runs off internal maps and learned data in the EPROM up to a certain TPS reading. This means it's not monitoring the O2 sensors for fueling use. Misfires can be the result of weak spark, timing off and excess lean or rich mixtures.
Have you read all the codes off? Is it just a misfire code?
Just my $0.02 and I hope it helps at least a little.

Just talk to Charles from BHR, im sure he will see this thread soon enough by the title and respond, heres a free bump to get it to the top of new posts so hopefully he sees it.
He will always help with any of his products dont worry about it, he will know whats wrong and be able to tell you ways to fix it

try resetting the ECU
The only things I can think of that could cause issues with this kit are usually related to user install error.
Here's a diagram of how the coils should be plugged in
either way, contact Ray and he'll help you out. I'm sure he'll ask many of the questions above so be prepared.
His number should be on the invoice or you can just PM him.
In case he doesn't see this thread, maybe this will help...

- loose wire (double check them at the plugs, you should have heard a click when they were in all the wya
- Broken wire. I've seen this happen if the wires were twisted at the ignition coil after being put on or were removed too quickly from the coil. If you have a broken wire, you can trouble shoot this with an igntion light.
- bad ground. Where did you ground?
- coils are not plugged in correctly. Did you double check the order?

Me and my friend checked the order like 5 times so I'm pretty shore that's not it. I'm leaning towards a bad connection, ecu rest, or a vaccum leak since I had to remove a part of my cai to make it easier. I will check it out after work and keep u guys posted. Does anyone know how to resetva 09 ecu?

I would imagine disconnecting the battery for a while might do the trick.

So I tired another grounding location, i think I rest the ECU, and checked the CAI and its still misfiring at high RPM but at low under 7.5k it runs great. That's as far as I got since it started to pour down rain I guess tomorrow I will check all the connections and go from there.

The two most common problems are; 1) improper grounding, as the spot indicated in the instructions is the best place for the ground lead, and 2) damaged coil terminals during installation. I also advise in the instructions to NOT disconnect the battery during installation so the fuel trims do not get reset.
And why do I bother putting my cell phone number on every receipt when people would rather approach this forum for their guidance and answers (much of which was originated by BHR anyway)?

some people just want 35 answers telling them the same thing instead of the ONE that matters

installed mine yesterday. no problems at all. it now runs smoother than any car i've ever owned :D
ideas for you to verify:
make sure none of the plug wires are touching... they carry a very high voltage that is capable of crossing an air gap (preferably only at the plug). a small microhole in a cable can bleed over, causing a miss. a good way to check is to view the engine compartment in total darkness.
also, it may have been a miss that was present before you installed the kit; since things are smoother now, you can notice the miss easier. at 7,500 there are other issues i have seen on these threads that can cause missing; if your air intake system is stock, make sure that the filter is clean and that there are no foreign objects in the airbox etx. if your air intake is not stock, make sure there is nothing loose/disconnected/etc

I do have a aem intake but I checked it today and it seems good. I know for a fact some plug wires are touching so I will address that tomarrow but it seems the idle is now fluttering dropping to about 700rpms then up a bit then down a bit. I also get some pops/backfiring in my exsaust at the high rpms above 7500 idk if that helps any. I am running turbo xs catback and mid. I will be calling bhr to help me out when I get a day off to devote enough time to the issue.

I am having the exact issue. I installed a couple weeks ago and I am having stuttering real bad above 7500 RPMs. Like yours, mine is the same, runs great below 7500.
I reset E-shaft sensor, checked connections, checked ground. I havent resolved the issue yet, but Charles has been very quick to answer emails.

My guess is a broken wire if you're getting sputtering. That tells me maybe one of the plugs isn't firing.
time to borrow an ignition timing light. Those have a clamp that you can put around a spark plug wire.
once the car is on, gently clamp around one of the wires, if the light starts flashing the wire is good. Repeat for all 4 wires.
I had similar symptoms when I had a broken wire which is why I'm sharing.

BHR even made it even easier to install by installing the grounding end and not installing the plug wires on the coils for an easier install. I would uninstall it and install the kit again maybe there is something simple you are over looking or you broke one of the plug wires. Talk to Charles first before you do anything

The plug wires are a very tight fit and when you pull them off the coil, there is a high chance of breaking the inside of the wire if you're not careful.
