length of time driven before overheating

Oh wow, I've never seen the needle move that far. Two days ago, when the temperature in LA first reached +100°F, mine creeped (two tally marks) close to the middle while my A/C was on. I was at a stop when all of a sudden, the engine just shut off. That was the first time that happened. I pushed the car to the side and left the key in the ON position to let the fans run, which only turns on for 10-15 seconds if I remove the key. Restarted after half an hour then drove home. Coolant level was about half an inch over the high marker and oil is at the middle; checked CELs last night and they were P0300, P0506, and P2259. Gonna see if I can take care of the first two this afternoon.

I just had an engine swap. Bad things happened. Got new radiator and today it overheated due to top hose coming off the engine cause clamp wasn't on right...
It started going up in the temp gauge so I turned my ac off and it dropped back down... Then a minute later white puff of steam when hose came off and temp gauge climbed fast I pulled over but it was like 7 seconds or 5 seemed like forever till I pulled over and turned it off...
Can this or did this damage my engine it's a month old????
I let it cool wife picked me up ate dinner then fixed hose drove home fine... Topped it off with water of course and cleane the engine and entire car...
So what's your opinions??

But yeah, you could have done damage to the engine.
There no way to really tell until it fails.
A compression test would be useful.
