Low creak over moderate-to-hard bumps -- common?
'11 R3, >52k miles. Wondering if anyone has any tips on likely causes, or if I should just go down the laundry list (bushings, endlinks, dampers, etc.).
The sound isn't loud at all, and it's sort of halfway between a creak and a clunk. Pretty sure it's coming from the front axle.
It seems to happen when there's a relatively big and fast suspension deflection. There's a bump in the road near where I live that causes it pretty reliably; it's a seam that goes across the whole road.
If I'm going slowly, I can go over any size bump and not hear a thing.
For some reason, the sound strikes me as something I'd hear if my sway bar bushings were slightly loose and completely dry. I say that more to describe the sound than to propose a possible cause.
Anyway, thoughts?
