manual gear box issues
hey guys iv been searching for info on the manual gearbox for the s2 mainly looking for common problems, and aftermarket improvements that can be made during rebuild.
so far the only common problem i have found is the 3rd and 4th gear popping out, which billet selector forks can be used in rebuild to help combat this.
is there any other problems you guy have come across and what has been done in the past to increase the strength of these boxes?
today for the first time my box has started giving me trouble, it grinds when selecting reverse. reverse only doesn't do it for 1st of if i run my stick through all the gears while stationary.
has anyone come across this before ??
any info or direction you could point me would be much appreciated

The S2 gear box doesn't really have any glaring issues. But of course if you push it past it's design parameters then it would be prone to failure. Anything can be improved with enough money.
From what I recall the there was a TSB regarding it popping out of gear and it was fixed by making an adjustment on the transmission. I have had zero issues with mine on my Turbo Rx-8 but it's not a 20B either.

how much horsepower are you pushing through yours and how long for? also what sort of life does it have,do you do the odd track day that sort of thing?
i am just trying to work out how long my box is going to last.
i has sarted going back into reverse now but it is harder to do and some time it doesn't want to, i have to play with other gears firsts but its not grinding
