Like ASH said in another thread, you would be better off feeding your OCD tendencies by other means. Such as turning the engine off, waiting for the apex lube injectors to spit, then turning ignition to the on position, count to say ten, and then off again to double lube the seals.

Has anyone actually had flooding issues in their S2? I want to say I haven't seen any truthful posts reporting it. I could be wrong...

Mine starts as fast as the day I bought her 3 years ago....as I pointed out in another post she starts as fast, sometimes faster than my new 5!.

Is this true for both S1 and S2? The guy that bought mine could do that before he periodically leaves it sit this winter. I was going to go over and squirt a little ATF in there, but this is a whole lot easier.

AB ...

I'll add this since it has only started happening in the last 6 months. 2004 GT.

When the engine is warm I need to rev the it to 5K before I shut it down, or I won't be able to start it again for another 15 minutes...

I've had it at the dealer 3 times now and they just say that's a "normal procedure". They can't seem to answer my question which is: why the hell didn't I have to do that for the previous 7 years?!

The only thing I can think of that may be part of the problem is that in the last 3 years I've only been driving it about 25Km per week. And I'm not able to red-line it much.

Lit, your car is a Series 1. This is the Series 2 forum. It has been said many many many times that the Series 1 engine is more prone to flooding on shutdown.

I think the correct term for all this is wankery, or at least the content is for *******. It's all mumbo jumbo rosary bead stuff as far as what to do after, during, and just before shutdown.

Start the car and drive reasonably, stop the car and go in the house is the best advice, it just isn't very mystical and too simple to satisfy many people.

Well, we drive wankels, so doesn't that make us *******?

Seriously though, when people buy something special, they want to have to treat it special. It's a very simple concept.

Perfectly stated. Such rituals are just overkill, unless you are shutting the car off stone cold...
