S2 Problem Tracker
Hey Guys,
I would like your helping in tracking RX-8 issues, if any. I am currently looking to purchase an RX-8 but many people have had issues. However, people with no issues do not speak up often, so I would like your help in this thread.
2009/10/11/ corresponding to the zeros below. So if your car is an 09 and never had an issue, please change it to (1 / 0 / 0). Please increment the latest post when responding.
Never had an issue - 0 / 0 / 0
Flooding and no engine replacements - 0 / 0 / 0
Flooding, compression issue, etc that required new engine - 0 / 0 / 0
Thank you in advance

6200 miles and going strong. Just a word of caution, 2009/2010 models are notorious for transmission problems. I had one at 3k where 6th gear was grinding really bad, and had a horrible experience trying to get it repaired.
Trans seems to be fine after the repair.

For my car, 2009 model, 7000 miles, and no issues so far...

Transmission problems with my 2009 GT.
3k Miles and already had her in the shop on two seperate occaisions to "upgrade synchros" after 5th-6th and 3rd-4th synchros failed. Bout 2 weeks of shop time already. Bout to bring back for MIAC issue for second time. Still the greatest car i've ever driven.

RX8 is fantastic. Ive had two and never had a problem. I now have an RX8 231PS and apart from the self levelling headlight sensor keeps coming on it has never gone wrong. Dont buy one for long distance motoring though, unless you have deep pockets....hard driving in the full power model knocks out 15-20mpg in my experience.....worth the money though. What you pay in petrol and oil, you just saved by not buying a porsche 911/ cayman which is the german alternative. Dont buy the Nissan 350Z, had one of them and would not have another. The 350 is a sheep in wolfs clothing! Enjoy the RX8.

Lol@Fuman
That's right bro. It's literally a "Marbles in a Can" sound that seems to be coming from behind the glovebox from 7-9.5k rpms. It's a 'insufficient coolant flow' or 'cavitation' or 'air bubble' coolant gripe we get usually after letting a dealer service department anywhere near the engine.... I just haven't bothered fixing it yet. lol.
And amen for pricey car. Around town i'm lucky if i get 18mpgs. But on road trips at 80+ mph for a couple hundred miles i'm up to 22. :-P
