About accuracy of the unit you could contact Ford or VDO but I doubt you will get much information. The TREAD act only requires reporting of 25% low values.

.
really? hmm weird . I just checked

it said this for 2004 and 2005

If tire pressure is too low or too high in
one or more tires, the system will inform
the driver via the warning light in the
instrument panel and by the warning beep
sound.
but changed to this in 2006 and later

The tire pressure monitoring system
(TPMS) monitors the pressure for each
tire.
If tire pressure is too low in one or more
tires, the system will inform the driver via
the warning light in the instrument panel
and by the warning beep sound.

as for the low and high setting - the factory setting was for 32psi as the base and +8 or - 5 for the OE 18 tires. The dealers did have the ability to change the limits for different tires . I dont know if they still do.

ill check to see if they still report over conditions and its just not mentioned. i cant imagine the part change could cost them less unless it was a running change in all models

And you're going to tell me this is easier than just asking people?

Anyway, I appreciate the lack of arrogance in your last two posts. Dare I say, they were actually helpful. <gasp>

But seriously. I wish the system gave accurate readings. Corvette's have had an advanced system since the C5, but I guess that's a different caliber car.

That's useful. I don't know why my laptop doesn't have it, or won't open it. I downloaded some crappy knock-off.

I'm gonna go buy a vette and give my car to shady, because he takes car of his rotary.

That's useful. Even though every laptop sold has adobe on it and its free to download, I went and downloaded a knock off.

Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it

My HHR SS would tell me each individual tire's pressure... But GM cars come with a Driver's Information Center (DIC), even the cheap ones. My Mustang IIRC however didn't.

I find it funny that Mazda seems to have invested so much into the suspension and engine, but not simple things like this.

Computer bits are cheap and pretty much everything is already at its peak in development. Mazda could easily pop a DIC-esque system into the 8. The MazdaSpeed3 has something similar, with boost pressure, temperatures and fuel economy. Tire pressure would be easy to add.

Thanks for judging me. I almost thought for a second that I knew myself. Good thing some random forum jerk is here to set me straight.

And I always say thank you and I never refuse an offer. Two life rules I like to live by.

I bet you're the type of person that likes to impress people by describing them with assumptions, not realizing everyone around you finds it arrogant and ignorant. (And by the way, I'm kidding, cause I realize I probably know nothing about you.)

It was a joke don't get your panties in a bunch.

The point was you could at least say thanks to those who went out of their way to answer your questions.

I said thanks in advance. Far before anyone even started posting anything useful. Look at the OP!

And I individually thanked those who put in more effort to help. Again I show you proof.

You, on the other hand, don't deserve any sort of thanking. You provided marginally useful information, but made an *** of yourself prior.

Check your **** before you start ****.

And I was joking at first and assuming the best of you. Look at my post under your double post. It's lighthearted. Even has a smiley.

You then insulted me. Blatantly. So excuse me for assuming you're not joking in the future.

Who? Zoom44? He didn't have to throw a fit in his first post. I mean, being a mod can't be that stressful... It's not even a real job.

And I was fine until you. You made no indication that you were joking, so how was I suppose to guess? I'm anything but angry usually. I just don't care enough to get worked up.

I never attacked zoom44. Just shady in defense. So please don't try to make false accusations, if that was your intention with posting those rules. If it wasn't, then never mind.

yes- go pump a tire or 2 up to 42 lbs to confirm whether or not the sensors still alert for over inflation. its easier than asking someone else or me emailing /phoning mazda because YOU actually have a the car right there with you to test. i suppose i could get together with the NW crew who have 2006 or later models, check their tpms system and then report back to you but since you have a car right there with you...

Since the 8 has been out for almost 8 years, I figured someone would just know by now. Plus, there are some incredibly knowledgeable members who may have actually played with the system and know it's parameters. I think it's fair to ask.

yes thats right and I am one of those very knowledgeable people . I have played with the system and the many times. But i hadn't noticed until this thread that the newer manuals suggest it only shows low pressure. Most of the knowledgeable people - like myself- have 2004s and 2005s so we cant check!

I think its fair to ask YOU to go put some air in your tire, to help EVERYONE better understand.

I'm somewhat impressed this thread hasn't been locked yet

edit:

also, what is the big fuss.... TPMS is another "idiot" light invention for people who dont know how to actually monitor their tire pressure. No offense, but I dont need a digital dash reading like the "corvettes" to tell me when my tires need air. Honestly, drivers these days are so god damn lazy. If you rely on the car's computers to handle the dirty work, then dont drive this car or any other high performance vehicle for that matter.

Next you are going to be asking questions about how accurate the "low oil" light is.

jason- will you do what asked him to do- set your pressure up to like 42 or 45 and see it it sets the light? you will probably have to drive a little to get it .
