Buying a set of wheels for their "like new" tires is... dumb?

 

Just look at this POS wheel in all it's glory....

 

I think that looks better than this guys wheel choice. I wouldn't put either of them on, but still.

i have no time for ignorant people.This thread isn't titled do you like these rims. I simply had a fitment question which ross was nice enough to answer. I have repetedly said the rims weren't the greatest.I have np with you not liking them but come on this post is bs. I paid 500 for them and no ross i didn't buy them for the tires was just saying i liked the rims and the tires were in great shape.I'm done with this post. I've been on these boards for quite some time never bash people or even post for that matter just read and learn. but after this mess i will definately not be posting here again.

you're absolutely right, I would never tell you to your face that I don't like your rims or wheels or whatever, but that's only because in doing so I would be the biggest ******* on the planet, not because you're some rad internet tough guy.
Did you upgrade your brakes to go with those? Are you lowered at all? I'm just curious how a torqueless wonder like the Rx8 handles having an extra 30-40 pounds (or more?) over stock on each corner, I guess if cruising is your thing then it's no big whoop, sure would drive me nuts after a while though.

To the guy who started the thread, grow a pair already, it's the internet, people will say anything they want no matter how obnoxious as there is no consequence. I actually have the motegi mr107's. less than 5 pound difference in each corner. car accelrates very close to stock wheel but very much improved on handling. check the you tube video rx7 chasing rx8. I have done that run a couple times and I keep up fine with the 20's on. I do worry about damaging them by potholes more. so i AM THINKING OF GETTING ANOTHER SET FOR THOSE HARD DRIVING DAYS. but I think have accomplished the best of both world with these wheels. style and go.

 

I looked online and saw some that were 33lbs, that's not including tires, Rx8 wheels are 22lbs w/o tires. That's over 10lbs more a corner. I don't want to be an *** but I really have a hard time believing you're seeing improvement in handling with adding that much weight at each corner but who knows, stranger things have happened and maybe if you're wider than stock then it's benefitting you somehow. If you like it that's all that really matters regardless of how it effects the car anyway so have fun with it and if rolling 20's is your thing then more power to you.

thats the whole point. every one has different taste and style that they like. and to your point my wheels are 25 pounds a piece without tires. I thought the rx8 wheels where 20 w/tires, so according to your numbers i only have a three pound difference in each corner. also remember bigger wheels affect acceleration negative and top speed positive. and I am running wider and better tires. they dont even brake loose in the rain.

 

THEY DONT EVEN BREAK LOOSE IN THE RAIN?!?!? MINE ALWAYS DO!! wtf man can you post a link to them.

your modded. I was stock all year last year. Now I have exhaust and cai. lets see if i can still say the same this spring. take a look at my photo's you cant even tell there 20's they dont look big at all.

The point is, those 20's look like ***, and they have no place being on an RX8.

All we the OP to do is cut the springs.
