noise and smoke from front tire
Need some insight/help -
I just had 4 new Ventus RS3s mounted/balanced on my '11 R3.
I have noticed a sort of rubber popping/stretching sound coming from the front of the car on the passenger side, when the wheel is turned completely left, as I start the car, pulling out of my flat cul-de-sac.
It was worse in the recent severe cold here, and then vanished as it warmed up.
Now, tonight, when the temp was around 38 degrees, I had the wheel turned completely left, and the noise returned, but this time with white-grey smoke, and a burnt rubber smell; this is while I was driving about 10 mph in my cul-de-dac.
This is the first time the smoke and smell has appeared. Tires mounted/balanced aligned about a week ago, slight negative camber added to the front by a very reputed tire/wheel shop.
No similar driving/turning issues at all when driving at speeds above 15 mph.
Previously had Pilot Super Sports and OEM Bridgestones, and no similar issues.
Suspension/wheel/tire size is stock, only mods/changes are stainless steel brake and clutch lines, Motul brake fluid. The car has 26,000 mi on it.
These tires have not been on a track yet, and are brand new.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Any ammount of negative camber with the factory adjusters should not be enough to cause popping/stretching noise and smoke. You need to take it in and make sure no suspension or brake components were damaged. If you are getting smoke it is highly likely the tire is damaged. It sounds to me that your reputable tire/wheel shop is not so reputable.
