East Coast Caravan to SS13 Donation Thread

We are actively taking donations to help fund the gas bill with our 8's to Sevenstock 13.

This will be roughly 7,479 mile round trip.

So if you would like to help out your East Coast rx8 brothers and sisters. Please donate!

For more information about the trip visit RIWWP thread

Some more info real quick for those who might not want to click the links:

7,479 miles is more than just Sevenstock, and includes a trip up PCH to Portland or Seattle (obviously which will change the mileage a bit), and then back east, after Sevenstock.

The current cost for just 1 person is at $2,000 to $2,100, including hotels, food, maintenance, etc... with Gas being $1,300 of it.

If it end sup just being Adam and I, then we will be able to split a few hundred of it, the hotel costs, though even that amount is dropping as we get places to stay for the night with members.

Also, so this isn't just blind donations, anyone that is gracious enough to donate will end up on Thank You advertisement magnets on all cars participating (just Adam and I at the moment, possibly Vlaze), Screen and/or actual name, as desired. If I can get any other token of thanks to be able to give back, I will certainly do so, but I can't promise anything yet.

Current donors: Updated 6/9/2010
- Charles R Hill - A place to stay the night of the 16th in Phoenix
- Atilla - A place to stay the night of the 17th, 18th, and 19th
- wheellee - A place to stay near Cleveland OH on the return drive. Probably the night of the 22nd.

I am solidifying ideas and plans so that donors are recognized on my car the entire trip, including sitting in the lot at Sevenstock getting pictures. I expect that I will get quite a few there

If someone wants to donate actual money, send me a PM.

The hell is this...

Adam you taking my idea and turning it into your own? How dare you...

I'll add onto what RIWWP said; if you own a business and would like publicity for that on the cars instead of your nick/name, let us know. I can get graphic lettering done for the cars practically free via a family member who does this for a living.

Looks like he isn't willing to do the 18hrs per day, so he would leave earlier and meet us in Phoenix

Reality is, likely we won't do 18 hrs on the dot. Have to account for getting up, eating, arriving, getting around for bed and actual sleeping. Unless you counted on 4 hr sleep nights

18hours is 6 hours of sleep btw!

Yeah, it's rough. Anything short and we will miss Phoenix. I'd prefer to do more on the 15th, with a good night rest on the 14th, then less on the 16th to wrap it up. Like I leave around 3-4am, meet Vlaze around 6-7am, Adam around...11? Taking a guess how far out you are.

Or you all could hire some navigators, who can switch off for night driving while you sleep in the cars too Then you'd get there in PLENTY of time!!!

Like I said, that's not accounting for breakfast, getting around, arriving, getting ready for bed before sleeping, etc. Reality is if we were on the road 18 hrs including stops, we're going to realistically get 4, maybe 5 hrs tops of sleep.

I offered that, and you backed out when you heard it was going to cost you more than a plane ticket (although I later realized I gave you the split cost of the total trip, not just the drive to LA, which would be ~$260)

Oh...hire? You mean, drive up the cost of the trip even more? Yeah. Let me jump right on that

no....payment doesn't always have to be money....more of a bribe as in "I'll let you come if you volunteer to help drive and costs etc."

And we'll have to see, the main reasonw hy I fear driving is

A.) I don't know M/T

and B.) I'm a chick, we pee a lot....lol

also....

c.) 3 ppl to a car isn't fun, Rory would have to find someone to ride with, if he had the patience to... ADHDism and all

Hardly an issue. You shift into first, jump a bit, 2nd a bit, 3rd a bit, put it into 6th on the highway for the next 4 hours.

Yeah, I'd be afraid of that too. Wait, I already am afraid of that.

Happily, there are 3 of us taking our 8s, so that is a total of 9 spare seats!

I tend to avoid liquid's when on road trips, though ppl yell at me for doing that since it dehydrates me....but I'd rather be dehydrated than stopping every hour to pee >.< y'know?!

Loud can be a good thing. Gotta have feedback to know I am pleasing you....

Hrm. I don't know if that sounds wrong, or right. Under the circumstances....

Na, I bet I can learn you how to drive a manual in 1 hour. You wouldn't be the first that has claimed to be horrible that I have gotten proficient in an hour or less. It's all in the teacher. The teacher has to be able to explain it and coach in YOUR language, not his/hers.

I know exactly. Women don't really pee more, just they have less self control over things like drinking I get most of my liquids from fruit, bananas, etc.. Normally a full day of driving will only see me actually drink about 16oz total.

and they guys say I leave myself open for perverse things I suppose it sounded right, but I should warn you....I hit my head on the rotary shape in the seats of the Rx8....(I throw my head back when i laugh) soooo....I may end the road trip with some booboos on the back of my cranium

My brother won't even let my try to learn in his Scion TC....HIS SCION!!! you don't even need to get out of second gear when stopped in that car!!! First gear is so pointless.... I have friends who have driven it and told me it'd be REALLY easy to learn on that car

I don't even realize I'm dehydrated will the next day and I get a headache...that's when I realize I wasn't drinking anything...I suppose I have a nervous bladder, so knowing I have to be on a long trip makes me more nervous nad think about the need to go...it's a mental, psycho thing I suppose

could you imagine how fast we'd get there if each person had a back up driver? rotations would be simpler and we'd get there in half the time!!!
