At a hotel in Salt Lake City, done for the day.

Not all that much happened today other than burning a bunch of gas and getting my first speeding ticket in my 8. 81 in a 70. Nevada State Troopers had already tagged me as a possible drug runner, so they were going to pull me over for something anyway. (I work with enough cops frequently enough, I recognized the signs) Not that I decided to give them a reason. They were smart about how they jumped me, and tagged me doing what I shouldn't have. Not offended or complaining. Just gotta pay the price: $62, not bad. Dropped it to 5 over and said no DMV report to my home state, no insurance report, etc... Almost a relief. 30+ speeding tickets in my life, but none in the past 4.5 years until today has almost got me a bit freaky about it

At least it wasn't about 45 minutes earlier. I'd probably be in the slammer right now...

Lets just say that Northern Nevada is a whole lot of nothing. Lots of 10+ mile stretches where you could see the entire distance in front of you, and thin air may hurt power, but the engine still works

Highest altitude I was at was 6,2xx or so.

Oh no, about the speeding ticket! But now that you mention your leadfoot history, I guess it's remarkable that it took you THIS long into your trip to get busted!

Keep on truckin'.......

That's what I remember about N. Nevada too. Also got passed by a NV state trooper around Elko --- I was cruising at 110 mph and he was doing about 115. He didn't even blink an eye.

Stay safe.

This is by far one of the best threads that I am following everyday at work (actually I spend lots of time reading stuff on this forum at work).

RIWWP as I said before you are welcome if you want to spend a night at my place while you are passing Iowa. Just let me know what your plan is. I will be happy to meet another RX8 owner.

I will be leaving CO springs tomorrow morning, dinner with brother and sister at the moment. Iowa probably is too far west for a stopping point, but PM me a more precise location, and i'll work in a stop if i can. Measure time from co springs for when that might be

Ill try to post up some pictures tonight, lots taken todat. Had the 8 at 11,000+ feet in the tunnel on I70. Down on power, but since i could go down to 2nd if needed, wasnt a hard climb.

Mostly done with anything exciting though, just a solo grind back home, stopping off to see a few people, including a few members, and my other sister.

At Khaf's place for the night. Many thanks to him for putting me up.

Only thing of note today was averaging close to or at 24mpg, which i have been told is a fantasy and a pipe dream. Feels odd living in this apparent mythical land.

Also identified and reported a clear DUI/DWI, which when reported also discovered that the plates belonged to a different car, and not the chevy impala/malibu they were on. Watched them get picked up about 10 minutes later.

RIWWP, if you didn't get one, I'd like to send you a FREE SS13 Shirt, when they're re-printed, for making this awesome trip. I did pass by your car on Vendor Row, I was just too damn busy on Sat to say hello!

Continue your safe drive back to RI!!
