like i said im going to believe for th emoment this is not what he was talking about- as this article says it was made by mnao particularly and is a one off. not really a"MAZDASPEED" vehicle for production that the man at 7stock would have been talking about

260 hp at the flywheel--yep--- already possible in a na, no nos rx8. the 12 % drivetrain/parasidic lost, remember guys--no a/c, a massive underdrive on the alternator, differant prep for trans and differentals and very light wheels/tires and surprise on the waterpump!

Either I hope you're right zoom (about there being a REAL Mazdaspeed announcement later), or Mazda has been overtaken by SUVitist, and a sad day it is too if this is true. If this SUV 'prototype' becomes THE next Mazdaspeed, as a MS CX-7, I'll be thoroughly disgusted with the whole bunch of them, they can stick their faux zoom-zoom logo up their tailpipes Shamefull!

I'm not sure if this is the annoucement, as the journalists at the banquet he didn't want to tip off were from RX7 Magazine in Japan, WTF would they care about the CX7?

Not to mention, Mr. Yamamoto has nothing to do with the CX7, he runs the sports car program which is Miata and RX8....so I'm rather confused now. Guess its more wait and see.....

You know I forgot to mention the big POS that we had for a rental car this year. It was a V6 powered Dodge Magnum. Imagine driving an oversized coffin with windows and a seat. Combine this with an engine that would make even a Civic laugh in terms of get up and go and couple it to an automatic transmission with the worlds slowest most indecisive torque converter and you've figured out how it drives. The throttle on this thing was very touchy and I don't mean in an overly powerful big engine sort of way. It was more like you were pushing down on a switch that had only a couple of positions. There was no finesse to it. You either didn't have enough pedal to move or it was far enough down that you were in danger of smacking the nearest object behind you. That is of course assuming the torque converter didn't just sit there and think about what you wanted to do. As far as driving was concerned, it did it's job. We got where we were going. When you needed power on the freeway to pass, the engine revved up but nothing happened. You just waited. Finally the torque converter realizes that you are talking to it and it decides to give you the power you need to get moving a little bit faster. Unfortunately the engine didn't have much to give even when the converter was cooperating. The sad part is that I'm pretty sure the car was working perfectly fine.

I figured that with about 150 total miles driven on the trip and half of it on LA's wonderfully empty freeway system (sarcasm), we should get at least decent gas mileage. After all we weren't flooring it everywhere. We were just driving it normally. What was the end result? Remember we had a V6. 15.3 mpg! And people think the RX-8 gets bad mileage. I can hit that number in an RX-8 while at least have fun doing it. This thing was pathetic. What's even worse is that the Hemi with greater power would potentially get better mileage. This engine sucked hard. It's an insult to anything that even remotely resembles an engine. You could probably go to Japan or Europe and only find an engine this pathetic in a museum. Even the Toyota Yaris would scream with laughter. Why do we produce such crap here? The vehicle itself sucks too. Admittedly I wasn't driving the Hemi and carrying 2X4's and an amp while trying to race a Lotus Esprit but it still isn't a great driving experience for just cruising around.

For a vehcile that has windows all the way around, it's one big blind spot. You can't see a thing around you. The windows are so high up on the body that it blocks your view much faster than in most other cars. The mirrors were worthless. The rearview on the windshield is way too small and is much farther than a full armslength away. It's a stretch to adjust it. Then the optics of it aren't the greatest. I know car manufacturers use the phrase "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" but in this case it was a highly exaggerated form of this. The mirror makes everything look much smaller. Combine this with a mirror placement 4 feet in front of you and then looking back on a mile and a half of vehicle interior before you get to the rear window and you pretty much can't even see a car that's tailgating you. The side mirrors are also lousy. A submarine has fewer blindspots.

Do I have anything good to say about this vehicle? Yep. Two things. The first is that I don't own one. The second is that we had to give it back at the end of the weekend. Terrible gas mileage, more blind spots than Stevie Wonder, no power, a horrid transmission, and not even a T-shirt to show for it. This thing sucked and I'm dumber for the whole driving experience. Thanks Dodge!

Ooooh! I'll definitely have to keep an eye out for it now. Maybe grab an issue... see your hands in print.

That is very true. There are several difference approaches to teaching Japanese... some I don't agree with (like Eleanor Harz Jorden's series)... but depending on the approach your reading, writing and speaking abilities can vary (and then there is individual aptitude as well!).

I learned basic keigo in school as well... and then learned a lot more at work. Which is actually typical even for native speakers.

If you really want to get put to the test... do the JET program. You'll likely get placed in BFE and be dealing with some local dialects... ouch! Tohoku/Yamagata dialect can be quite different than hyoujungo (standard dialect)... and we all know about the Kansai dialect.

But didn't he say a new Mazdaspeed vehicle was going to be announced at SEMA? If it wasn't this CX-7... then what?

And I have to admit that this CX-7 I find interesting. A regular CX-7 is of no interest to my household because it's only AT and we aren't really SUV people. But with AWD, 6MT and 300hp... I'm interested. Interesting that they dropped the TMIC for a FMIC and added an oil cooler... On that note... I am doubting it'd see production in this form... Mazda would bean count it down to a TMIC... if even an upgraded one... for cost reduction... and the different exhaust manifold... dunno if it'd make the cut either. So power would definitely be down.

I do think that if this was what Yamamoto-san was talking about... it was freaking rude to talk about it at SevenStock.

No more CX-7. That thing is not even a sports car.

So, whats the deal with the roots supercharger MS RX-8 that never came to be? Was it because it did not make enough HP or was it too many other superchargers and turbos? Seems like if they had went twinscrew, it could have worked. Would be interesting to find out the story about it.

I just left a message on Scott's voice mail. If you speak to them, feel free to ask them to contact me.

Actually Mazdaspeed Motorsports has a wide variety of RX-8 parts suppliers; AWR, TriPoint, JIC, AutoExe, etc. etc.

the real p-sser is that they have many more parts than are listed in their online catalog, but unless you happen to know they have it and can specifically ask for it over the phone or have their cryptic part no. for ir they can't provide any info to you, it's a totally f'd up situation

Not what I meant. I meant that the AP likely isn't the solution being used on the axialflow S/C. I have my suspicions as to where RP got the reflash technology from.
