[QUOTE=RX8SaxMan]
  • The AFSC is very close to being done, and he is just working out some tuning bugs.
  • The SC will come with a tool to reflash the stock ECU to RP's preset maps.
  • He did not give me any power or torque numbers, only that he is still tuning it, and the included flash will be 5hp or so less than what the AFSC is capable of, for reliability reasons.
  • It will cost $4,300
  • RP estimates that it will be done in a few months.

[QUOTE]
Wow - that sounds exciting . Think i'd be keen if it gives a bit more grunt down low & puts out something in the 250-300hp range .

Perhaps its the "wider" 15B that WHEELS here have been on about?
Or the Hybrid combo.....Gas or Hydrogen?

I can only imagine what kind of under hood heat that is generated by those turbo's.
Guess you have to just drive faster to cool them down!
The afc set up is looking better ll the time.

I bought a Renesis exhaust flange so now I can finally build and test my header design. I'm so busy though that I have no idea when I'll get around to it but at least I'll have everything I need to do it.

From what I gathered today the next generation of rotary will be the hydrogen. Someone had asked Yamamoto about a 3 or 4 rotor and he said that while there isn't one now, there is always the possibility that one could return in the future. They aren't working on one right now but it doesn't mean they still won't pursue it again someday. The one thing we did get from this weekend was that the rotary has a long future ahead of it.

I have learned more about negative timing split this weekend (thanks Carlos Lopez!) but that will have to be a future tech article as I can't convey it all very quickly. Got to hang out and chat with Carlos, Rick Engman, and Francesco Ianetti quite a bit. These are all the true rotary gods. Awesome talking tech with them! Learned more about direct injection and it's hurdles in the rotary. I couldn't get near the info I wanted to though but anything is better than nothing.

I also asked alot of questions about direct injection, I'll try to gather all my thoughts tomorrow and post them in a corherent manor.

The whole hydrogen thing to me is kinda BS. I believe Mazda will offer it as a feature of the vehicle, but its basically Mazda's answer to e85. It looks good on paper and makes you feel kinda green, but its not really practical. DI is where they will go.

Didn't anyone get a picture of the polished blower mounted on the spare engine?
Ok here's what we released at SS. The kit will come with a reflash, it will produce 7.5 psi. We havn't had great managment yet and can't make dyno runs all the way through the rpm band. However 275 doesn't look to hard to do.
If you look at the final blower on the car it has a coated stator made from one piece. It still has 4 stages. The shape of the front volute is sorta final on the car. All units will be polished volutes with the dark grey stator.
The intake manafold will be fabricated aluminum. Parts of the aircleaner will be carbon fiber.
Cost is $4300 +/- with the reflash. The reflash will be done by the customer himself with provided hard and software. The tune will be conservitive and non adjustable by the owner. There will be a second tune for using higher octane fuel on the track with your ac off and fans on. There may be available to selected tuners a tunable setup but we are going to be very selective on who we give these to.

Guess I better post this on my own thread too. Just waiting for someone to give me that picture of the polished unit. It looked hot.
