Hey guys,
Thanks for the feedback. I think there's the value of the car itself, and then there is the circumstance of the person selling the car. In 2009, I bought a 2008 Mazda6 with 12,500 miles for $11,500 from a private seller. This person was getting only $11k from the dealership, so I offered him $500 more, and the deal was done.
The person himself wanted to return to his home in the Ukraine. He was a truck driver who barely drove his car, except on weekends. Each person has their own circumstance and life priorities, and it may be more valuable for that person to take less for the value of the car itself to and make more value in some other way out of what is immediately available.
The car itself has a low resale value anyway, and the automatic version even less so. Online reviews of flooded engines from drivers who didn't read up enough on how to care for the car don't help anyone's cause, I suppose, even if that tends to apply more to the '04 and '05 models than others.
In any event, I'll keep searching for that great deal, and if anyone has one, feel free to PM me
