They can only deny you a new engine if they can prove that the hollowed cat was cause for the engine failure.

Theres an article somewhere on here that explains it.

Yea, their claiming that the lack of back pressure from the cat causes the apex seals to chatter and fail which is complete crap.

Yea, I thought the interior would get old to me but it definitely grew on me. Everybody thinks it's aftermarket.

This is Mazda claiming this. I've been jerked around for two weeks now talking to different people who all claim they don't know anything "technical" about the car and that they aren't the ones to talk to about getting the decision reversed so I'm going to let my lawyer deal with them and sell the car.

I doubt anyone will want to buy a car with a bad engine, let alone all this mileage. Why not just trade it in?

Trades: No trades, please
Price: $8,000 (Loan Payoff)
Description: I'm selling my 2004 Mazda RX8 Grand Touring. Mazda has denied the engine warranty because the cat is hollowed out. The rear rotor has no compression so it could probably be rebuilt but I don't want to put any more money into it.

Please contact me if you need more information or pictures.

Details:
Mileage: 95,500
Exterior Condition: A few rock chips on front and scrape on rear bumper (see photos)
Interior Condition: Great except for wear on steering wheel (see photo)
Modifications: Cobb Accessport from Mazdamaniac, Agency Power underdrive pulley, gutted stock cat (no CEL because of accessport), also will come with 3" highflow cat from rx7store (never installed)
Why don' you contact a shop about rebuilding the engine? Some of the shops will even do some porting on it if you wanted, and you could get the car back better than a brand new stock motor. RX7store.net is in Ohio and they do rebuilds. Their site says stage 1 rebuild Starting at $2150.00, stage 1 is a basic stock rebuild.

Maybe with a ported rebuilt motor you could enjoy the car more than when it was running good stock.

PS. you want to sell your access port and 3" cat? Meow!

I would agree with the 5k remark and I would be interested in it, but you can buy a running rx8 at his price. I would consider throwing my fc in on a trade if your looking for another car.

Wow back from the dead. I thought this was deleted. Lol

The engine was replaced over 5k miles ago. It is still for sale. I will make a new for sale thread with the current price and pictures.

I've seen '04s with low mileage and or replaced engines going for $8,000. If someone buys this I am going to sell my '05 with 66,000 miles and 1,000 miles on my new engine for $15,000. With your engine being recently replaced you might be able to get $9,000. OP it appears you have a significant amount of cosmetic damage. $8,000 sounds like a good asking price with the new engine.
