06 GT MT Ignore Price, Feeling the market.
Year: 2006
Make: Mazda
Model: RX-8
Price: $6000
Mileage: 101000
Color: gray
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (US State/Canada/Int): WV
It made me set a price so I stuck 6k in there. I literally picked a random number.
I can't really go by book values as they aren't going to take into account the specific issues of the 8 and mine specifically.
So heres the deal, it's an 06 manual with 101k miles and a failing engine (who would've guessed?) I plan on rebuilding the engine in due time but winter is coming and I'd also like to get into a 4WD since I live in a mountainous region.
Engine starts relatively well when cold but can take 2-3 tries once warmed up.
Also notable: Over 5750 or so RPMs it gets a lot of blowby which was causing oil to be spewed back into the intake.
I've added a catch can incase I ever do go above 6k but on a test run revving to 7.5k before shifting the can filled quite quickly so I'm going to assume a side or corner seal is the culprit.
The throwout bearing IS making some noise but thats not a big deal, just wanted to fully disclose.
the body is mostly in good shape aside from a dent in the left rear fender and some VERY minor warping under the left door handle. My neighbor cut the wheel too sharp and clipped my car with their front bumper while backing up.
Long story short it definitely needs a rebuild. I want to keep it and rebuild/replace the engine but its currently my daily driver so I'm tempted to get rid of it and wait until I can afford to buy an 8 as a SECOND vehicle at which point i'll likely find the same situation and be able to make it a project car since I won't need to drive it every day.
I'm sure you know most of the GT features but it doesn't have the popup nav. does have heated seats/mirrors, bose sound, 6 disc changer, power seat etc.
Sooooo, what's it worth?

Also I have an email from mazda where they pulled the options from the vin but unless someone actually wants to buy it I don't want to bother posting it. I've posted it in other threads already so the info is out there somewhere if you really want to fish.

so you basically have a roller... If you disclose what you know about the state of the motor then you're basically selling a dead car.
$1500 to $2000 maybe?
Do the rebuild and you should be able to get closer to $6000 - $7000 but 100,000 miles is going to scare peeps .... you'd be surprised the difference 70,000 and 100,000 makes. Those extra zeroes freak peeps out.

If I do the rebuild I won't sell it. And I do plan on doing the rebuild and keeping it. But I saw cars with no engine going for 4k and figured wth let's see what mines worth. I can't even find a totaled rx8 with no front end for 1500 although tbh that's what I expected a dead one to be worth.

there was a roller here for (what I thought) was about $1500 recently. I didn't read any of the details... just saw the subject line.
Anyway, do your rebuild. you can't sell a dead car. karma is a bitch man.

I will, then I'll have my uncle buff the smeared plastic off, you can't really see it in the pic but the person had a black plastic bumper that left some streaks, it literally just happened last week. And with the check from the insurance I figured I might sell it and try to break even. There's a guy here with an 09 in good shape that has a fully failed engine and he would give it to me cheap so I could rebuild it but I didn't want to lose my GT for a base model that won't even start. I'd be dumping the same amount of cash into either car to replace the engine but I like mine more.

What's karma got to do with this? Your implying Ive done something wrong or that I'm trying to... I'm not trying to scam anyone, I fully disclosed that this is a dead car so if I were to sell it I wouldn't be deserving of bad karma.
