Word to the wise, don't search ebay for "80mm silicone" on your work PC. Whole different product range.
Searches for "80mm silicone" suddenly go up 50% !

It will need to be wire reinforced BTW ....

Regarding inlet tube, is it a option to make it square at the tightest places, then interpolate back to circular at compressor inlet?

I think it'd be okay as long as it's significant size and not near the maf sensor

haha ................ well I don't really have 400whp .........because there is no way I can safely run it at that level with my current intake .
With new intake ............. watch this space.

The new tube will have to go oval to fit ..... shouldn't be an issue .

That was not necessary!

(side note: definitely looks to be less than 80mm)

Brettus, if you didn't have to worry about the driver's side engine mount and got rid of it completely would you be able to fit a larger turbo? Or has your fabricator worked around it so well that it wouldn't make a difference?

Just like REW swaps, a mount can be made to mount the engine onto the cross member instead of the standard ones. It will be expensive though.

That would certainly have made a difference .... The other big obstacle for us was the steering rod and rack . Without both of those things in the way ..... i would say yes . Even then i think an EFR size would still be a struggle though.

Quick update :
Had a bit of a setback .... siamese sleeve melted and went through the turbine .
So rather than buy a new turbo core I found the parts (yes -Chinese knockoff) i needed on line .Got a turbo specialist to put the turbo together but he couldn't balance it on his balancer due to the design of the shaft . Was a bit dubious about doing it but went ahead anyway .
I slapped it all together fully expecting it to fall apart straight away .
It didn't ..well so far anyway .
So since getting that done I've been experimenting and finally figured out the real reason it hit the wall at 400.
Despite my "muffy the backpressure slayer" exhaust ...it's still is too restrictive .
Once it gets up to 16+ psi the backpressure is sufficient to stop the recirced wastegate from doing it's job and It starts to boost creep.
So armed with this knowledge i plan to make a few changes and head back to the dyno.

So ......I now have a two stage exhaust system . First stage is nice an d quiet for general cruising , secondstage is when wastegate opens and things get ..........loud.
Main exhaust on left , wastegate on right.

this, I have to hear. just a theory, but I feel as if you're still leaving a little bit of power on the table with so much piping. it is, of course, much quieter this way as opposed to a direct dump below the car. In for vids!

Ever heard a race v8 engine on launch control ? Kinda sounds like that .

No power loss at all because all it has to do is be free flowing enough to prevent boost creep . I lost about 5psi in turbine backpressure doing this . Doesn't matter if all the extra pipework is there or not ...reduction in backpressure is the same.

Piping looks good. Adrenalin R resonator?

Assuming all gains from this improvement were in the mid-high rpms?
