I think W is alluding to the fact that he thought I had solids ..... but I actually don't . Have rx8 corners with modified plugs.
FWIW i wish i had solids in there .
It's another one of those ...rx8 seals would last longer but break easier jobbies !

I didn't realize Slash had solid corners. I thought I saw recessed corners somewhere in here. I've still heard of the solids doing a good bit of damage. So IMO (which won't mean much to those who use them) they don't work correctly. Brett and I discussed all of this a while back.
I did know yours were not solid Brett. You told me like four days ago. It could have been a lot longer though.. All the days tend to bleed together

I am usually between 18-19 after a good drive in this summer weather, but when it was first rebuilt it was usually at 19-21 no matter how hot it was. My last compression test a few months ago, I was at like 8.1-8.2 across the board on both rotor housings at 290RPM so she is wearing a bit now at almost 40,000 miles. But they say ported engines produce less vacuum at idle as well so I dunno.
But I remember vacuum testing like 6 RX-8's at a meet I had at my house once and the highest reading of them all was like 17. A couple of them had no clue they had issues but vacuum was in the 12-14 range and they ended up with remans not too long after.

Break-in going well, 250 miles today. Vacuum starting to pull more consistently at -20 and sometimes -21. Only issue is a slight oil leak which I believe is coming from the oil filter stand. I re-used that gasket so I ordered a new one and will install it when I do a 500 mile oil change. Hopefully that will take care of it.
One thing I've noticed is it seems to smoke slightly more oil when cold. I put in the Atkins thermal pellet and also did the oil pressure mod so I'm thinking it is that combination that pushes a bit more oil when cold. Thoughts? With the oil pressure mod I'm seeing about 20-30psi more than stock.

Maybe it is rich fuel and I am being paranoid. It has always done this but it just seems like a bit more now. It goes away after it is warmed up, like it always has. I'm not going to worry about it. In the past I attributed it to pre-mix.
I'm planning a second build with the extra parts I have. Hopefully I won't ever need it but I'm already itching to add boost, so figured I'd start prepping

yeah if it goes away I would not worry. After your first oil change or two you may want to send an oil sample into blackstone just to see how things are. When mine was fresh I was getting a lot of fuel in the oil but after a few thousand miles the numbers normalized.

As a side note RX7 main bolts are easier to get off. Just torch until red and then use a 1000ft/lb air gun and it comes right off.

Yep it's a standard thread. But it will take some work to get it off. For both Renesis motors I've torn down I torched the main bolt until red and then I used the Mazdatrix flywheel stopper and two 3/4" pipes, about 5 feet long each. One I put between the flywheel and motor and the other I used as an extension for the socket on the main bolt. Then I had an assistant help me hold the rear pipe while I used the front pipe to wrench off the main bolt.
