As is with the original tires and spacers the lip/rim protector passes very slightly the fender of the car.
With the stretch of the tire, if there is any bump it seems the fender would drop into the sidewall. Although I am at stock height so it would have to be a hell of a bump. As of yet I havnt had any rubbing.
The price of the two size tires are about 40$ more per tire. The increase in tire size was more for the look then anything.
If anyone has any other input, would be appreciated.

I will probably just stick with the stock tire size.

Based on the info I got from this thread, I did 25mm spacers all the way around with Goodyear 245/40/18's and otherwise completely stock suspension. The front most definitely is not flush...
I ended up going down to 20mm spacers in the front.
Also there's some misinformation in this thread about having to cut the studs to fit 20mm spacers. There is more then enough room in the stock wheels to fit 20mm spacers without modification.

I don't think anyone would say that it would sit flush on stock suspension. Greatly lower offset wheel will always look silly without lowering the car. Plenty of people have ran 20mm spacers without cutting studs so I'm not sure where that info was posted.
Edit: I saw Viper said that but it doesn't make sense, maybe his spacers were not actually 20mm. But yeah, don't believe everything you read.

Its possible that those couple of people that said it didn't bother to look at the back of their wheels and notice that there's plenty of room (or even see the picture you posted). I just wanted to call it out for future people, so they don't do anything they don't need to do.

Lowering the car would definitely tuck in the tops of the wheels, look at the pics posted in the first post with 25mm spacers, 245/40-18 tires, lowered on Tein S techs.

Rubbing constantly with passenger and occasionally riding solo with very mild driving. I hesitate to get spirited because I fear hard cornering will rub like crazy. I cannot argue with how it looks but I now cannot drive the car the way God intended.
My question:
Will going back to stock tire width of 225 (keeping the 40 sidewall) potentially cure rubbing issues? Or will I need to remove the 25mm spacers? I've read about minor rubbing on maybe harder than normal driving or with several people in the car but I am experiencing rubbing on a regular basis with one passenger under normal and even careful driving styles.
Could my shocks be shot? I was not expecting this much of an issue.. Love the look though! Lol

i run 245 Z2's with 18x9 with I think (I forget) 38 offset, wheels on stock suspension right now and no rubbing. I obviously need to lower my car, but it sits pretty damn flush and have had no problems.

My passenger rear shock is completely shot, and on that side I experience exactly what you describe. I have a brand new set of KYBs and Tein S-techs just waiting for it to cool off a bit in AZ.
The thing is the area it rubs is pretty small. With the 245s and 25mm spacer, it rubs I'd say about 1/2" of the inner fender lip. So just to be safe, along with the new shocks and springs, a friend of mine has a fender rolling tool that I'm going to use to gently massage that fender lip up and out just a bit. If all goes right it won't push the actual fender itself out at all, just the inner lip.

Hi everyone, would really appreciate some advice on what size spacers I need to get a flush look with my wheels. Front is 235/35/19 8.5s +45, rear is 265/30/19 9.5s +35 lowered on Tein S techs

15-20mm up front and 5mm or 10mm depending on how aggressive you want to get.
My car is the same size wheels and +24 up front and +27 in the rear. So depending on your suspension, you can make it work.
