Good looking 8
Jazer, nice BB. Not sure if anyone said but your catback system looks a lot like my Greddy supreme tips look almost identical, may be wrong but if it is would say greddy on it mine has plate underneath.

Decided I liked the eyelid look enough to keep it, so got a more "permanent" solution.

I just spent all afternoon reading your build thread. I just bought an '04 Winning Blue 6MT with 53K miles on it for a fun car. I haven't done much so far other than clean it up and start pre-mixing, etc. I have a coil kit but haven't installed it yet. My plans are a lot like yours, mods to increase the fun and reliability. I look forward to reading more from you.

Update on the wing brackets - I have basically given up on finding a shop to cut my design. Most shops do not have the capabilities to actually utilize my files (they are too complicated) .. and the few quotes I was actually able to get were astronomical. The original plan had fallen through and finding a backup shop was virtually impossible for me. I wasnt going to spend hundreds on a set of dinky brackets, lol.
Because of this difficulty, when I came across a used Carbon Fiber variant (which was never permanently mounted, only test fit with as he described, a 9-9.5/10) I jumped on it. The deal was good, noticeably less than new WITH a verification that it fit well. I have seen some that looked jacked up, and some that look like they are actual Mazdaspeed (minus being carbon fiber) so this gave me a lil more confidence than buying straight from a supplier. Also has nice (aluminum) brackets.
It should arrive tomorrow!
Ill probably keep my black one as a spare or sell it to someone who maybe has more connections in the shop industry than I do.

Got the wing mounted. Could not be happier with the fitment, it fits as if it were OEM! The lip portion fitment is worlds better than the other varient I have, also as a whole it's much lighter. I do still need to repaint the upper brackets, they didn't come polished like the lowers were.. but I was eager to get it on and see how it looks.
The exterior of the car is virtually finished she's finally achieved the overall look I was aiming for.
IN LOVE.

Thanks guys!
xKp5609x yeah I totally understand. I don't know that I ever would have purchased one directly from a vendor. The cost/risk is too much of a concern, unless they will guarantee return if it doesn't fit right? My only complaint is the brackets don't utilize the factory holes, but they can still be covered up by the OEM wing as they are still within that footprint.

Relocated the UltraGauge again. Wire tucks nicely along the steering column to the OBD2 port under dash.
Installed & ran wiring for the reverse camera. Will mount via licence plate mounting bracket for now (for ease of initial install) and later I plan to remove it from that bracket and mount it more hidden under the bumper ledge or possibly centered in the rear rotor triangle? Haven't decided where I want to hide it. All wiring is hidden/tucked nicely below the trunk carpeting and through the center console.
Coming soon - Install of a Clarion touch screen head unit which will automatically display reverse camera input when put in gear (JUST like an OEM system which will be nice). Honestly I am looking forward to it mostly at night time - because my tint is so dark on the rear 3 that its hard to see at night when reversing (I will eventually re-do it and have the front windows done to match, but it's what the car came with... it's just not a priority change).
I would have liked to have this centered, but I don't want it covering anything important, so this was the best placement keeping it in a spot that is an easy/convenient glance while driving.

Hi Jazer.
It's a sweet 8.
I remember discussion of there being a spot in the rear that appeared to be designed for a camera, but I can't remember where.
I'll try to see if I can find it.

I saw locations for the keyhole, rotor symbol, Spoiler brake light, and a special license plate frame.
This discussion was about a cutout or hole that looked like it was specific for some type of accessory mounting.
It could be in the trunk lid, or maybe behind the bumper, I remember reading a bunch of immobilizer threads about the antenna under the bumper, it may have been mentioned in one of those.

BC - There is a spot in the bumper where the licence plate light mounts, right above where I have the camera, in the bumper bend there - that would be a reasonable spot to tuck it up a bit (there is a natural hole in the bumper). This will be really easy to move because it's connected via AV wires right near the taillight, so it EASILY disconnects and will pull out when unbolted for relocation. I had enough wiring to do to get all the new parts connected that I didn't feel like adding that to the mix. It's sort of an eye sore how it sits now but it will be an easy change once I decide on a more permanent location.
I finished the install, I need to get better pictures - I wired the DVD player to a hidden switch instead of e-brake (like they tell you to) so It can play DVDs on demand whenever. Obviously won't use while driving - but I wanted to avoid cutting into the factory harness wherever possible.
I got the Axxess ASWC-1 steering wheel control module and got that wired up - had some issues with it's programming at first and it defaulting to thinking the head unit was a Clarion type-2.. but the Axxess tech line helped me out real fast once they opened and showed me how to force it to program to a Clarion Type 3. Worked instantly after that.
Also fixed the head unit wiring when comparing to how it was set up before. The previous owner wired it like you do traditionally with a non-amp system (and honestly its such a cheap/shitty head unit it was the only way) - so with the factory Bose system it was unhappy receiving an already amplified signal. It is now hooked up via the av plugs on the back of the new head unit - the Bose amp is much happier. Overall sound quality has greatly improved and has "fixed" the complaint I've had since I bought the car. My base model Subaru, with a generic/base sound system should not sound way better than the Bose equipped car. They are only 2 years apart so it's not like the technology is that much newer, lol.
It's a flip up so it cleanly tucks down when I want better AC flow I tried to find a dash piece that let me mount the single din on the bottom (swap places with the lil cubby) but they don't have any.
Sorry for the book - here are some crappy pics. lol.
Oh and I still need to fit the little border piece that goes around the cd player so please disregard the gap for the time being :P The wiring in the cubby is both the aux coord from my tablet for when I want that to come through the speakers as well as the USB reciever from the head unit for when that needs to be plugged in as a music/media source.

It's an Ultraguage - I have a few different pages with various parameters selected for display - but that's my main page. I also have Torque on my nav hood tablet and a bluetooth OBD2 plug - but I honestly like the UG better- even tho the tablet display is prettier. UG has more in depth setup (custom alarm beeps, so it will warn me when any of the parameters I set get to whatever limits I have set - etc)... it's just a better program and simpler in terms of - the tablet i leave off unless Im using it which is only sometimes so It's nice just having a convenient display always on.
