car is now at 80,100 miles. Still looking for the right buyer, who wants to buy the car with all mods.....or someone who is interested in swapping wheels so that my other buyer can take the car.
I know many people look at this car and think it is great, except for the mileage....but one thing they should consider is the failure rate on transmissions with the RX8. So, buy mine which has a brand new transmission, or buy one at around 40k miles which is about to pop.
Just an FYI....new trans from the dealer will cost you over $2800 just for the trans.

The person who was originally interested in the car 7 weeks ago has continued to be in contact with me. He finally has a loan and approval from his parents to come look at the car. If everything is a thumbs up, I guess he takes the car from me this Saturday. I'm meeting him in the afternoon on Saturday, so I may come for my final cruise this Saturday for some fairwell pics.

looks that way...we'll know more Saturday afternoon.
If this one falls through, there is a second person who has expressed interest in coming to look at the car as well. I would assume, like Razz said earlier, that as the summer months get closer, it becomes easier to sell sports cars.

first buyer fell through. Second buyer came to look at the car on Sunday. He made me an offer, and asked that we take the car to his mechanic for a check over. I'll be going to that mechanic on Friday, and if everything is a go, car sells? We'll see.
Car is at 80,900 miles.

car was ready to be sold Friday, but couldn't pass smog? So, no sale and back to the drawing board. I'm thinking at this point it may be the hi-flow cat. The smog results indicated the cat was working, but maybe not efficient enough for hydrocarbons and Nox.

what?! That ******* sucks.
Strange thing is we've had people post that they've passed smog with high flow cats.
Is the buyer willing to wait a few days? Slap on the OEM cat, and throw in the high flow cat as a 'bonus' for waiting

Keith: here's a post that might be of interest
There still hope for me yet! I guess when I was talking to the service technician yesterday, he was saying how his computer might not be the most updated and that that's why he had to perform the tailpipe test. He was also saying my car may be ODBIII... Last year when I had the RP Supercat on, I had the dealership perform the emissions test (ODBII) and it passed no problems. The year before, the tailpipe/dyno test was performed with the following results (OEM cat):
At 15mph and 1494 RPMS
HC(PPM) - 2 - PASS
CO(%) - 0.05 - PASS
NOx(ppm) - 3 - PASS
At 25mph and 1677 RPMS
HC(PPM) - 2 - PASS
CO(%) - 0.06 - PASS
NOx(ppm) - 2 - PASS
Probably just going to take it back to a place that has the CANBUS technology or the dealership to have them do it again.
Thanks for the input everyone!

I think the limit for hydrocarbons was 40 parts.....mine checked at over 80 parts. The same could be said about the NoX...it was double what the limit was.
What does the post you gave suggest, that maybe finding a less up-to-date smog place would be better, or was this the problem with my current results, that the station didn't have the right equipment???? I'm not sure how to read that post out of context.
The station did put the sniffer up the tail pipe.

RB flash (street version) should not affect the Smog outcome.
