Ok I changed to a claim and explained what is happening. What about in addition to that, I get a list of everyone's name and amount they lost and submit the info to canadian authorities. You can do it through the internet. Can't be hard for them track him through his email and paypal info, especially if he's receiving things through paypal address. I think they'll be more likely do to something if there's a list of 8-10 people that got scammed. I can do the work of finding out who to contact in Canada. May sound silly and not get us anywhere but it's worth a shot. PM me your name, an method you can be contacted (maybe just an email), and amount you lost.

I am not sure if this type of forum supports a feature similar to this but many other forums log IP addresses when posts are made. If this guy was not using a public wireless, has a non static ip, or was using public computer access to make the post and the mods of this forum are at liberty of giving out this type of information you may be able to track him/her down by the IP, its a long shot.
Another interesting test would be (if you do have access to the IP address) to query the database member tables or where ever that IP data is stored in the database and see if the scammers account IP matches any of the other members IPs if it does the other account may have more information about the identity of the scammer.
Someone with more network experience may be able to chime in here and give more information if something like this would give you valid results for tracking someone down.
I feel for everyone who lost out on this guy so i figured i would try and add some possilbe help.

this forum most definitely logs ip address.
also of peculiar interest is the paypal e-mail is an ISP address.. those are not a dime a dozen.. so it's more then likely his own or someone very close to him.. markbadda@telus.net

His email is not his name and he is not located in Le Duc. I think I have a name, IP address but don't want to jump the gun. Like I posted earlier, I'm trying to get the local Canadian authorities involved through a website that deals with scams (in Canada). Should be quite easy to track him down.
