As close to turn key Time Attack, or NASA Road Race or SCCA Race ready as possible. I would say around $10-$15k budget but depends on car and equipment going with it.

Here is a link to an mx5 SCCA car. http://www.improvedtouring.com/forum...ad.php?t=28277. This gentleman also has a few speed3's race ready. My suggestion for you if you want to go wheel to wheel racing is that you look at somerule books and look into what class you want to run. Then fo to a few events and scope it out with the people tpu would be tacing with. Afterall racimf is a so ial evebt as well.
Getting a car with big turbos and such will be fun for lapping but you probably will not fit within the rules of the more competitive classes with the highest attendance. You are going to special d thousands on this so make sure you know what it is what you want to do!
On the same forums with the link above is an s2000 for sale in your price range as well. The forum I listed is also the best forum for the SCCA improved touring class which I honestly think is the best racing for amateur racers in the northeast. Big fields and you can race wheel to wheel without putting a mortgage on your house! I am currently building the first RX8 here in the north east that will fit in SCCA ITR. In that same class is the mx5 and S2000. The rx8 is one class slower (same ruleset) and the ms3 is not classified and will not be because it has a Turbo... although I have one for my wife and I do love to drive it!
