MazdaManiac "Devil's Hairdryer" turbo kit (SOLD)
Category: Engine - Power Adders
Price: $2900
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): MD
Item Condition: Used
I've been off the forums for a while because a year ago I purchased a 2006 Evo IX MR and I've always had a bad case of mod fever. My Evo now has a custom weld-in rollcage, over 400 awhp, and has more than satisfied my need for a powerful turbo car. Because of this, I have reverted my turbo Shinka to naturally aspirated and am giving it to my wife. I don't need two heavily modified turbo cars competing for mod dollars. With only 8.5 psi the car broke 300 rwhp on a Mustang dyno. I sorted out issues with the car over the next couple of months and was regularly running 11-12 psi on the street but never re-dynoed the car at that power. It was significantly more powerful than the 8.5 psi thats for sure! I had a bunch of issues with a shop's installation of the kit (most of which are documented on this forum) which prevented me from putting too many miles on the turbo. It has <5000 miles on it and no track days. I will be taking pictures and posting them tonight/tomorrow. I am willing to ship the items anywhere in the continental US for an additional $100. Local pickup in Maryland is obviously free.
Here are the items for sale:
$1900.00
- MazdaManiac modified Garrett ball-bearing GT3071R "Devil's Hairdryer" turbo (includes actuator)
$1000.00
- GReddy turbo kit (couplers, intercooler piping, manifold) NOTE: There is a hairline crack on the manifold. This is extremely common on this manifold and can be repaired by any welder.
- Godspeed intercooler upgrade (larger / more efficient intercooler than the base GReddy one)
- GReddy Type-RS blow-off-valve with recirculate fittings or vent-to-atmosphere horn. (I ran recirculated and the car was much happier, but some people prefer VTA)
- AEM water/methanol injection kit (no tank, I used the fittings to tap the windshield wiper reservoir)
- Black Halo Racing (BHR) throttle body spacer (makes fitting the meth nozzle a breeze)
This kit does NOT include an AccessPORT. I reflashed my RX-8 to my NA MM tune and will be retaining it. I highly recommend you purchase/use an AccessPORT to tune this kit. If you have any questions just send a PM, I'll be cleaning up the parts and taking pictures over the next day or so.
Edit: I lumped the meth kit in with the rest of the GReddy kit... the meth kit (controller/pump/wires) and BHR throttle body spacer go free with the GReddy kit.
I have also taken a couple of quick pictures and a brief video of the turbo to show its in good condition.

Also the couplers are upgraded with Extreme PSI silicone couplers. The basic GReddy ones were meh.

I have to double check the box of stuff tonight actually, but I believe this includes the upgraded P2 injectors which were optional upgrades with Jeff's kit. I had a shop pull the turbo off, so everything is kind of jumbled together still. I will take some more pictures tonight including the exhaust manifold and intercooler.

It's held pending down payment, not sold yet. I'll let you know if it actually goes out the door. I've sold enough things to know not to count a sale finished until I have money and the customer has the item and a smile.

I went through all of the components tonight, pulled them all out of the box and cleaned them up. Here are some pictures. This sale is currently PENDING, as I am awaiting payment from a buyer. I will update this thread by Wednesday with any status changes. There is a backlog of interested buyers, so if this sale does not go through for any reason I will be contacting you in the order you responded to me. Buyers interested in the entire sale (kit + turbo) will get priority.
