2004 Grand Touring, Nordic Green, BHR Kit, Bilsteins, Accessport - Check it out!
Year: 2004
Make: Mazda
Model: RX-8
Price: $12000
Mileage: 68000
Color: Nordic Green Mica
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (US State/Canada/Int): NC
She already has low miles, especially for an '04, and what miles she does have are mostly highway. She's been with me in my Air Force career since before I started and has gone with me to Texas and Colorado and back to North Carolina. She's kicked *** on those winding roads near Denver and navigated San Antonio's bizarre Bermuda Triangle of exits. Through all that, though, she's never seen snow or salt as I've kept her garaged through all the winters.
The car is a Grand Touring, loaded with every option you'd want save nav and the CD changer. All of the other good stuff - the awesome two-tone leather interior, the sunroof, the kick-butt Bose sound system, the works - that's all in excellent condition. It's the rare color combination of Nordic Green Mica, an elemental green that really comes into its own on a sparkling summer day where you can really see the golden flecks in its shifting blue-green, with the nice two-tone saddle and black interior. Quite upscale-looking.
The good:
-- She's got a great set of Bilstein PSS9 shocks which allow you to change their damping setting via *****. This means that you can set the car up for a firm ride around your favorite smooth road or go for a more relaxed ride on road trips. I purchased them from a fellow forum member and installed them with the help of another awesome forum member - thanks again, Scott. ;D
-- The PSS9s come with their special wrenches for adjusting ride height, so a nice afternoon and a set of jacks and you can adjust her height to your liking. I even have the original shocks that were on the car and will include them with the price.
-- Installed the BHR ignition kit. The gentlemen over at Black Halo Racing did a kick-**** job on these; you can definitely feel that little bump in midrange torque and the whole car just feels a little stronger.
-- New spark plugs to go with the BHR ignition kit. They were a great price from the guys at BHR; I couldn't resist.
-- Upgraded to Series II starter motor. I've had zero problems with warm starting.
-- Strong engine. I had the compression checked at my local Mazda dealer and she passed with flying colors. I'll include the printout with the rest of my service records.
-- I own her title in hand. No financing shenanigans.
-- Cobb Accessport. I bought it for close to $600 and can include it with the car for $400. It's entirely brand new and I have everything to go with it. A brand new one from MazdaManiac would run you $500.
-- I have a Groupon for car detailing that I'll gladly use to sweeten the deal.
-- Both myself and the car's first owner are rotary nerds. I *know* this car. You can rest assured she gets redlined and driven like she really needs to be, runs on premium gas, receives TLC and non-synthetic oil and is always allowed to warm up.
Some stuff to know:
-- Carfax has a small accident on record for her. This occurred when the car was new and was a low-speed fender bender, i.e. zero actual component damage.
-- She has a scratch on the driver's side door. It goes from the handle to the suicide door. It's not readily apparent, but I want to let you know it's there.
-- Needs a new driver's side sun visor and one taillight gasket (I replaced the other). If you're interested in the car and commit, I'll have the dealership replace these for you.
-- One of the OEM shocks that I will include is a little leaky. It doesn't compromise ride or handling, but it did ping my OCD and I used that to justify the PSS9 upgrade to myself.
So:
Again, I really want this car to go to a good home. The car's been really good to me and I've returned the favor. But as I said, it's perhaps time for me to move on, so check her out.
I live in Spring Lake, North Carolina - about an hour south of Raleigh/Durham, 2.5 hours east of Charlotte, and right next to Fort Bragg and Pope Field.
Give me a PM or an email if you're interested. My email is (take the anti-spambot spaces out): z e p p e l o p o d (at) g m a i l (dot) c o m .

IMO, Nordic Green and Phantom Blue are the coolest colors on an 8.
