Just curious, do you have compression test numbers on the engine ?

 

I'm sorry, I don't...I am literally a little old lady who only drives it three times a week in warm weather. Is this something I could easily (and cheaply) get?

 

A rotary-specific engine compression test can only be done by a Mazda dealer or other mechanic with the proper rotary engine compression test equipment. The rotary-specific compression test will tell if your engine is healthy or not. Even a failing rotary engine (having low compression test numbers) will run for awhile. It just will help you sell the car here for the price you want if your engine has good compression numbers.

The cost of a rotary-specific compression test will widely vary by dealer and/or rotary mechanic with the proper equipment. As low as $100 to upwards of $300, depending on who does the test. There may be some RX8club members near you with the proper compression testing equipment who would do it for less. Buyers from this forum will want to know those numbers. Maybe a serious buyer would split the cost of a compression test with you. Worth a try.
