***Local MI Rotary Club ***
That's right, Michigan has a Rotary Club and we're looking for all the owner's of Mazda's newest edition to the rotary car family, the RX-8! Here's some info on the club:
We have over a 100 members from all over Michigan, mostly around the greater Detroit area, and consist of mostly Rx-7's of all 3 generations. Official meets are once a month but often we have many other activities, events, or get-togethers we try to meet up at. Some of our meets include bbq's, all sorts of racing (ie: drag, autox, road coarse), automotive related events, cruises, and just meeting up at member's homes. Members are notified of meets via email or threads that will be posted in this section of the forum.
If you'd like to know more, feel free to email me at: mazdamanda@comcast.net
Or if you'd like to join, please send me the following info:
Name
Email address
Phone number
Address or city of residence
Rotary vehicle(s)
Picture of you and vehicle (optional)
I look foward to seeing the additon of some RX-8's and new members!
-Amanda

I've had my RX-8 since July 17th, and I've only seen 2 other RX-8's (Titanium) one night on 96 east near milford road, and about Nov 10th I saw my 3rd other RX-8 (Red) in the mall south of 12 Oaks.
I would have figured that I'd have seen more. I'd like to organize an RX-8 meet of some sort... In the springtime.

edit: by the way, this is in 5800 miles of RX-8 cruising

Well, I put one of the rotary revolution business cards on a red one I saw in the Holiday Inn parking on Plymouth Rd in Ann Arbor lot about a week ago.
I wrote www.rx8club.com on the back of the card, but haven't seen anyone gripe about me leaving stuff on their new ride
In the spring you can bring that car down to Indy and have some fun with the rest of us rotary owners. Do some Auto-X and see how that baby really handles (which I'm sure it handles like a dream).

Yup, I've already signed up for it.
It does handle pretty well. The only thing it doesn't do flawlessly, I've noticed, i on a tight turn, it tends to plow the nose under heavy accelleration, but I think some suspension tuning can fix that..

Fellow Michiganders.
I am buying an 8 in early march, when the snow hopefully starts melting. Anyways this rotary stuff is totally new and fasinating to me, espically coming from a GM piston oriented backround. So any tips and advice should keep flowing becaue I'll need all the help getting used to my future car.
Just some backround stuff:
i live in ann arbor, finishing school here, am interested in possibly adding some mods and whatnot to what i think is an already amazing car...
let me know what you guys think?
david
ps what color charcoal or winning blue?

Sounds great in March, maybe you'll see me in my Black 91 RX7 convertible (during winter) or my Silver 94 RX7 (when/if it ever gets back together). I work right off US-23 at Plymouth RD.
Also, check the MI forum at http://mirotaryclub.com/forum/
And think about bringing your new 8 with the MI club down to the Revolution at the end of April

Hello Midwesterners --
I bought my RX-8 about 1 month ago from SESI in Ypsilanti.
So far I think I have seen one RX-7 in Ann Arbor, but no other rotary sightings.
I added snow tires, and until the snow gets too deep, the car is very drivable, including the two days a few weeks ago when the schools were closed.
Any other Ann Arbor area rotaries?

I saw a Titanium RX8 Friday around 2:45 pm in downtown. I was in my black 91 vert RX7 and kept getting stuck one car behind. Wanted to tell them about this forum and the Michigan club.

Hello fellow MI Rotary owners....
I have had my Silver 8 for about a month and love it. I too have only seen a handful in the area. I live in Temperance, but work in Milan and go to lunch in Ypsi about once a week. There is one Titanium and one Blue 8 in Monroe that I have seen.
mazdamanda...sending you my info for the club...would love to meet more experienced rotary owners and fellow 8 owners.

Sweet looking 8!
I work downtown in the City Center building. If you see a black 91 vert RX7, and silver 79 RX7 or a silver 94 RX7, see if the driver is smiling and waving. :D

I'll be picking my red Mt 8 up in a couple weeks. I work in Plymouth and live in Allen Park. I'm glad I'll be the only one driving around in a red 8 w/ red and black leather w/ all the options.
My buddy just bought a black conv. mustang. It's a nice car but I see them everywhere I go. Nothing exciting about that!!

Hi Amanda,
Since the MI club is now happenin', would you guys like to join the Chicago, Wisconsin, and Northstar (MN) clubs in coordinating the 4th annual Midwest Rotary Rally (MRR)? It would be great to have you folks join in with us formally in addition to individual people coming out for it.
Drop me an email at: steve@ScuderiaCiriani.com or PM me and I can get you up to speed on where we are in the planning process. We are just ramping up, so the MI club could be in at the beginning of this year's planning cycle.
Cheers,

Can't wait to see all the RX8's in 9 more days at this year's Rotary Revolution :D
Hubler Mazda has said they are bringing out 6 to let people test drive them, we have 25 registered. It's gonna be a RX8 Love-fest, lol...
Are you MI 8 owners joining the Michigan caravan? I can't wait to meet all of you.
