Toyota Yaris 3dr Hatchback vs Suzuki SX4 Touring
B4 u all jump me for why buying a Toyota, well, its not my car, my gf wants one. she is paying for it, cuz she wants something that looks *cute* and gets good MPG.
its cheaper for me to get insurance, so its going to be under my name.
We're still thinking on which one to get. Both have Pros and Cons
Yaris will be cheaper, looks better, gets better mpg, and probably more durable than the SX4, Toyota brand
SX4 will have AWD, better power, have a rack on top, Stability control. 4 doors. Longer powertrain warranty.
Kinda hard to decide ... what do you guys think ?

You already know what I'm gonna say
Honda Fit!
First place: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/price.html
Again!
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...st+page-8.html
Also, if you look at the JDPower survey (Europe) for the past few years (I haven't seen the latest ones but 2006 and maybe 3 years straight, the Fit was always top 2, 3, or 4).. The Echo / Yaris soooo far behind .. Suzuki's way down the list
Heck, it's the first car in Japan ever to knock the Corolla off its #1 best-selling car seat.
Just like for our 8s, I'd recommend it for the rotary fans and passionate car people (where MPG takes the back seat).
But as a former Fit owner (and most probably a future one too), I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE

My sister has a yaris 3dr hatch, manual, no problems so far. It's fine to drive around, and has enough pep to get through traffic. Plus it has around 20 cup holders! how could you go wrong!?

I just got back from Thailand (just got happily married!!!) and saw a TON of Fits (Jazz over there) and Yaris ... es. The Fit is nice and has more room than the 3 door hatch Yaris by far. But that's just the catch. The Yaris over there and in Japan are offered as a 5 door hatch and have greatly more room than the US 3 door. It's still slightly less room than the Fit (one of my new relatives owns one, a Jazz that is, and had the pleasure of riding in it; lots of room; it's kinda of like a mini-minivan), but not by much. Both are customize friendly and tunable, the Yaris being the better as far as looks (I saw some NICELY kitted Yaris ... es over there). As far as engine tuning, I think the Yaris would win IF you swapped in it's real engine from Japan which is turbo (think Vitz). As far as the Fit goes, it's nice and it's a Honda for crying out loud. There are always parts for Hondas.
The SX4 is a car I've been looking at also. All wheel drive, room, etc., for the price sounds good. It may be low on a lot of lists because a lot of people don't really know about the Suzuki brand beyond road/sports bikes and the Tracker back in the day.
My vote is the Yaris if they could get you a 5 dr version, which I doubt. Other than that the SX4 is all round better because for the price, you get way more. You'll see when you have to add all those options to the Yaris.

Most important is ... they're not as *cute* as the other 2 ... U know girls ... "cute" is their top priority
Dude, U think I never thought about it ? Gotta ask Mazda why arent they bring it to the States. Oh I should ask Ford instead, cuz they afraid that its going to kill their butt ugly garbage Focus.
I saw tons of them when I was in Hong Kong, and they moddddddddded it like nuts, its soooo freaking nice.
OH well, We're in the Stats, Welcome to the real world.
my friend has a sx4. Very nice car. And you can work on it if you'd like. would be my second car for sure. check this out
Sweet sx4

There is a Turbo Vitz u can buy directly from the company in Japan, for I think 3 Million something yen, its boosted to like 150ps or something, Full body kit and stuff. freaking nice, oh well we will not get it here.
If I do get a Yaris , Im thinking I might put Blitz Compressor into it.
Right now, its all "thinking"

Dude...I think I read somewhere that the Yaris is super bad in accidents. Don't know if the extra "cute" and mpg factors in when you can't enjoy them after an accident.
Suzuki...meh...let them do trucks and motorcycles. I don't trust their cars...imo.
Don't know if you're into them, but I saw the new Scion xD...not really my cup of tea, but for a girl that wants a cute car...worth a shot. I believe Car and Driver kinda liked this car...dunno... its a yota...decent...customizable...tunable...
Why not the MS3? a little bit more...sure...but decent highway mileage. Nevermind the premium gas requirement.
Honda Fit might be your best option. I always see one in downtown who apparently thinks he is an indy racer. The car is zippy...not fast...but I'm sure you are aware of the performance if you've driven one.
Anyway...good luck.

The Region Manager for Toyota in the Greater New York area is really a retard, they dont have 3dr Yaris with Side Curtain airbag and ABS and EBD ... they think ppl in NY does not care about safety or something ?
Thats why I have to go like 2-3 states away just to be able to get a Yaris with that Option ...
First she wanted xD, but after sitting inside at the dealership she hated it.
SX4 ... I kinda have the same thought as you. thats why Im comparing between the 2.
I cant get MS3, she dont want to pay 23K for a new car
Honda Fit is out, cuz dealerships are dicks, and no specials.

Mini Cooper FTW!
I even like that car...not for me, but would love to get one for my gf. Fun, handles well, good gas mileage, and ranks high on the "cute" factor with girls. Maybe a used S model or new base model. You will likely get very good customer service with BMW as well.
Maybe even a rebel flag on the top...oh wait, you're not in NC...

Between your two choices.... I'd put my vote for the Yaris... Toyota's are known to hold their value and have been reliable compared to the rest. I'm sure the Suzuki is great too (love them gixxers), but i dont know how well they'll hold their value.

I have been selling Toyota and Suzuki for 3 years now. The Toyota will hold resale value a little bit better. But if you are going to keep it for a while it won't matter that much. The Suzuki has more room and is safer with the standard side-curtain airbags and the available stability control.
As far as reliability, I would have no concern for the Japanese built Suzuki's. They are very reliable. I would stay away from the Korean built ones (Reno, Forenza).
I own two Suzuki's. An '06 Luxury Grand Vitara I bought for my wife two years ago. She absolutely loves it and we get a lot of compliments on it. The other is my GSXR750.
For my money, I would buy the SX4 over the Yaris any day of the week. The SX4 just has more personality also.

Suzuki is rumored to be pulling out of the Car Market so keep that in consideration. Forget where i heard it or i'd post it up.
I'd say the Yaris my mother once had a Corolla for about 10 years it only needed to be fixed when some one hit her (or her them lol).

nyc, take it from me man, take the Yaris,
I like suzuki, but in reality, they suck as a whole for a motor company, and their service is worse than mazda. + their cars aren't that durable

I read that Suzuki is one of the *worst* auto company when it comes to depreciation, and they're working *hard* on it to improve its brand image. Thats why they released cars like SX4, and invest even more money into WRC (SX4 crossover based)
So I dont know.
Thats why its a pretty hard call ... I mean Suzuki has almost everything that I need ...but Yaris looks way better + cheaper + better brand image ...

I know you said she would rather have a new car, but if she wants a little better car for the same price, a used Corolla or something wouldn't be such a bad idea.
I have heard bad things about the Suzuki's reliability.

no YOU failed.
Girls like *cute* things ... over anything ...
Dunno about their reliability, but from what I've research, it seems *so so*.
They have 7 yrs 100K miles powertrain warranty. but I still kinda have question about it. look at Mazda, they can say *this and that are not covered* *customer abuse* to deny them.
I considered about FIT, but like I said, cuz they're selling like hot cakes those Honda dealers all being a *dick* about it. Some even want *1K markup*. I was like wtf ? for an Econ box ? gtfooh !
