Just got a twin s2000 for the rx8
**UPDATE -- PICS ON PAGE 4!**
My mom has been looking for an s2000 for a while, and we just picked one up last night. 2001 White w/ red interior, 32k miles, OEM hardtop, front and rear spoiler, with red badges. The car looks 99% new, most well-kept 7 yr old car I've ever seen. I drove it all the way home 3 hours and loved it. Never had the chance to see my own rx8 on the freeway, I couldnt stop staring The s2k is not near as refined as the rx8, not NEAR as smooth power delivery, but a very nice car in its own right and a lot of fun.
I drive WWP rx8 (w/ below-mentioned mods) so the two cars together looked EXTREMELY clean together. Will post pics soon of the two, theyre about as close to Mazda-Honda twins as you can get.
Just bored at work and felt like sharing. I love the white / red color combo on the s2k. It really re-opened my eyes to how smooth / unique our rotaries are.

Mspeedpro, try putting the S2k's tranny into the 8, I want to know how different it will feel. The S2k uses the same transmission housing and final gear so it should bolt right onto the RX-8.

Yea it is a blast to drive, and this 4 cyl sounds MEAN (has K&N intake). The exhaust note is about on the same level as my rx8 w/ racing beat catback. Even though I REALLY love the s2k, driving it for a few hours makes me wonder how aannyyoonnee could want to drive this thing on a daily basis??? The rx8 is 10x the more ergonomic and functional car, and I feel that the s2k is at best 5% sportier. Just my opinion.

White with a red interior sounds pretty cool. Looking forward to pics of both cars together. I'm usually hardcore when it comes to car comfort but being 6-2 and getting older, it sounds like the S2000 would definitely have to be a second car. I love the digital dashes in those things just like I always loved some of the 80's style digital dashes (Nissan for ex). White FTW...

My second car is going to be a Honda as well.......civic. But its for winter use actually. I drove the rx8 last winter and its not as bad as I thought. Even started easy enough at -40 but with as much snow as we get up here I'm hanging my baby up for the cold months. As much as I would like to have a S2K I'll settle for the civic. Jealous much...yeah I am.

I owned an 01 S2k, now own an 06, and was one of the first to buy an RX8. BIG difference between an 01 S2000 and a newer one, The car has been SIGNIFICANTLY upgraded, from interior, also added about 10whp and wtq, and cosmetically the car is much nicer. If you could drive an AP2 S2k, especially an 06-08, you'd notice a big difference. Honda upgraded the S2K nicely over the years, but I did love my 01 for it's rawness. Honda refined the car up, so it became a more livable, but I always appreciate raw untamed cars that first come out before they get softened up, like my former 04 STI.
Now as far as power, my 01 S2K was clearly faster then my RX8, although not night and day. Now with the 06, which dynos at about 10 more whp and 10 more feet of wtq, the gap is even more apart.
An RX8 will lose to an S2K in every kind of race. However, the RX8 is a more refined car with luxury and more suitable for daily driving, and has much more creature comforts and gagets. The S2K is just a pure roadster sports car, so it's not supposed to be anything but fun.
The best part about the S2K? The reliability. It's like a Civic, as long as you take care of it. Both amazing cars.
