We use to provide the organization of the Driver Ed for both Coastal Empire and Ocmulgee regions. We have instead, gone back to our roots and are doing it for charity. Our charity is the Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island - and not only do they see the profit - but they spend Saturday with us at the track - where classroom, lunch and family parade is supplied by not just us - but by the participants of our event.
We follow the 5 run group format - from Novice to Instructor. The sessions are 20 minutes. We have classroom, taste of the track, and well, just a good time. We invite all marques and folks you'd like to call friends - once ya meet 'em.
We offer hospitality on Friday night at our host hotel - and for 10 bucks, a pig pickin' with a keg at the track on Saturday night.
We've been doing DEs since 2001 -- and our last one we hit the 120 participant mark (okay, 116 and 4/2 people, the 4/2 were instructors - 2 for Sat and 2 replacements for Sun - worked for us!). For our November event - we already have 51 persons registered. And promises of that still coming in daily -- yikes.
If you have any questions - please feel free to contact me. I'd love to hear from you -- and just maybe - we'll all meet up at Roebling, Nov 7-9.

guys we love RR track and this sounds like a good organization to support.
The price is right, sounds like plenty of track time (5 sessions a day?), the time of the year is great. Jackie I havent had the pleasure to meet you yet but if you a supporter of the BG club you have to be good people. I have been in health care x 31 yrs and i have seen plenty of results of the good impact that organization has had.
? Can we sign up on line or do we have to mail the application in.
I am somewhat recruiting this event --may have some Florida people coming up also. I will continue to promote on this forum and the Georgia RX8 site.

Hey there olddragger - thanks for rounding up the troops - I can't wait to see a whole bunch of RX8s out there - playing among the other marques... sounds like a great thing.
I do appreciate you posting - and I love your positive comments. (Can never get enough of those.)
Okay, I admit it - as way ahead as I've always been on computers - there are some things that I do prefer the old fashion way - they work. So we appreciate mail in registrations with checks that can be deposited. You may reserve a spot, meaning bringing it to my attention you are mailing your check in -- if you use www.clubregistration.net -- which is a good idea, because I already have 53 paid applications in, and promises of many more. Our last event was sold out, and since I have almost 2 months to go -- I fear (happily) this one too will be sold out.
As you see, we do try to keep the price down. If we went to online pay - we would have to give over a percentage to -- say -- Paypal. I would rather the money go to the Boys & Girls Club - they'd have better use of it. Besides, I like the idea of the children in our neighborhoods growing up with sound backgrounds. Makes them better citizens and productive ones at that. Hopefully, they'll grow up wanting to be the next generation of Greens - and...be able to afford this hobby
Another reason - I really like to see the handwriting of folks I haven't met yet. You cannot see what I see reading keystrokes from a computer...
See you in November,
Jackie

and just a reminder - if anyone is planning on camping out -- there is a fee -- and you will need to call the track before the arrival to let them know you are planning to camp out. We want to keep everyone happy - and keep this thing going smoothly -- btw -- for the Friday night we have asked to keep the gate open till 10 - just for the campers...

I am planning on the Lapping day Friday.
Getting off work for the weekend is going to be a PITA, but hope some of you come down for the Fri also.
OD, glad to see you motivated! Bring that beast out to run!
Swoope, if you bring beer of the same caliber, I may have to camp. (Sure as heck can't find my way to the hotel after a few of those )
I will be emailing Jackie (Hi Jackie) about this split thing. Cause I could probably do Fri/Sat - but Sun is definitely out...

Thanks for the reply Jackie and I will be mailing mine in this week. Ok guys lets round up some folks--dont leave me alone with Swoope--i would have too much fun and couldnt stand that. This reminds me of the good ole days before NASA got so big.
Db man--you are staying saturday--we are chaining ya to one of those trees, and swoope we can sleep in our cars man --its very comfortable. Picked up a few hints in my single days when I didnt want to drive home
Lets get to work on Silver, Charlie and the rest of out gang.
Jackie thanks again and if you need handwriting analysis let me know--i have learned some things in trying to read some of the medical stuff out here.

I'm thinking seriously about this one. I may take you up on the auto hotel if I go. If things work out, It'll be for Sat/Sun. I have 1/2 day not spoken for on vacation so I would take Friday PM off and take my time driving down.
Anyone know about the run groups?
EIDT:
5 run groups:
Green
Blue
White
Black
Red
Looks like I will fit in somewhere in the White (solo) or Black (Track Junkie/Inst. Spill over).

Also, there are no Fri/Sat splits -- sorry. There is Friday Lapping Day - and a Sat/Sun DE...
Last DE the split I had was four instructors - 2 for Saturday and 2 replacements for Sunday... and we bend over backwards for good instructors.
*****************
Thank you all for the burst of energy and the enthusiasm. We want more of that at the track. See you there - November... looking forward to it.

Can we write them a note like - it's for your mental health? and get an MD to sign it?
