-FL- BREVARD area RX8 BBQ *FL*
Ok guys! Bicentennical Beach Park it is! Saturday the 27th! It's a smaller beach park just BARELY in Indian Harbor Beach. Literally 200 yards south from the Satellite Beach border sign. In fact, Google addresses it to Satellite Beach still. This is the best we can do for those thinking about driving up from West Palm Beach. We have several others driving from Merritt Island, Cocoa, Orlando, and one even from Tampa. This is a central location for all.
I had thought about Pelican park, but I know this park gets PACKED during the weekends. But the real kicker is that all the tables are way off to one side and the huge parking lot is way off to the other side. We wouldn't even be able to see our cars from the tables! What's the point?! Bicentennial Park has many tables and several grills. (many parks I visited only had one or two grills. That would suck if they're all taken when we get there)
Address:
98 Ocean Dunes Dr
Satellite Beach, FL
Right near the intersection of A1A and Pinetree Drive.
The real question is time. 2-3ish or 4-5ish? The later we do it, the less crowded the parking lot/tables will be. But I understand those wanting it around lunch time. My vote is for 4-5pm start time, but I'm VERY flexible and really don't care. Make your vote before Thursday. I'm locking everything in by Thursday. We can't have these decisions made last minute. (more than they already are)
Items we need:
1)charcoal/paper/lighter fluid/spatula
2)Burgers / Dogs
3) Burger/dog Buns/condiments/cheese
4)potato salad/chips
5)paper plates/napkins/forks
6)Soda/Beer/Water (unsure if the park allows alcohol, probably not)
Will be attending and will bring:
1: firebirdude - Ken - Will bring TBD

not really much closer, is it? i'm not so good with distance, but i could've sworn that sat is roughly 10 mins closer than Sebastian. neither seems like very far.
so it doesn't really matter to me.
cocoa beach would probably be the easiest for everyone since 528 just runs into it.

I know it's REALLY short notice, but there's a pancake "BBQ" tomorrow morning at Deleon Springs for 8 owners. http://www.cflrx8club.com is our local site, if you guys are interested in joining up. If nothing else, you should should drop by for Cars and Cafe on June 27th. It takes place at the corner of International Blvd. and 46A in Lake Mary FL on the last Saturday of every month. We usually do the show from 9 until the raffle wraps up, then grab some lunch. Sorry to thread jack, but if any of you are interested, let me know.
As far as this BBQ, I'm always down for a BBQ so I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread. It's WAY far southeast for me, so I'm going to say that my attendance is contingent on finding a buddy to ride down with me. Other than that, just let me know what to bring!

You do indeed have beaches, but everyone knows all the good ones are on the gulf coast. (Sorry, former Sarasota resident, so I have to show at least a little bit of loyalty)

That's a bit too far North for me I'm afraid.. =\
Unless maybe I take a 4 day weekend and then make a trip to Gainesville.. hmm.. but that would only work if the meet was the 27th

I'll let you know here if I here anything.
Was talking with "myriadshalaks" today as we were doing a pulley install and we were wondering the same.

Then screw it. That's ATLEAST four of us right there. I say we go for it.
I've had quite a few people PM me and say they're in, but need a date/time/location. Out of all those that PMed me and posted in here, I'm sure atleast two or three more would show up. I think 7-8 of us is worth it.
I know we've been trying to hammer down an exact beach park. I've added it to my errand run to-do list for tomorrow. It will get done tomorrow. If nobody has any beef with the satellite beach general area, then I'll pick a spot that has a grill and some tables and is not generally over-crowded. Then post it up here tomorrow.
Sorry this whole BBQ has been kinda grey. The first one is always tough. Gotta get the local fan-base together, then it'll be easier to stay in communication for the next one. (The BrevardRX8 message board I made would really help us with this. Please sign up)

Again, I will post exact location etc tonight. Time will probably be 2-3ish. I want to give those that are driving in plenty of time. Plus it doesn't get dark till after 8 here anyway. In fact, if you guys would rather have it 4-5ish, that's fine with me. Speak up.
