DIY: How to Remove Foglight Housing and Bulb Reflector
This is a DIY for how to remove the foglight housing and the bulb reflector.
I wanted to remove the bulb reflector inside the foglight housing because I wanted my foglights to project further and brighter (like our Euro brothers). I'm also running modified H11 bulbs in my foglights so that I have more lumens compared to the stock H9 bulbs. There is a DIY for this mod on the boards too.
I don't know if this has been done before but this how to is strictly pictorial. I don't know why I can't [img] tag these photos in the DIY section here, but it's annoying since pictures are worth 1000 words...

Removing the front bumper isn't too difficult but I would strongly suggest that you follow the above DIY for just removing the foglights because it's less less time consuming and easier.
As for the clips? I hardly find them annoying if you know what you're doing.

My passengers side stock H11 fog-light bulb is dead, and needs to be replaced. The manual says to crank the wheel fully to the left, and remove the grommets in the wheel well, and peel away the shield to access the fog-light assembly. But it seems like it would be difficult to access the fog-light without removing the wheel.
Has anyone here replaced the fog-light bulb without removing the wheel?

yes i had to replace a light not even a month ago. all i did was jack the car up, turn the wheel all the way to the left, undo some pop rivets and there it was. its a pain tho. i would recommend taking the wheel off.

taking hte wheel off is much better than cranking it "out of the way" - its a major pain in the *** that way cuz you can't get up there to work on it.
anyone know if this mod is "illegal" aka would result in a fix it ticket? I've got some LED's i wanna put in that are just a hair too long to fit in with the reflector there.
thanks

Just did this to my car today, and I was very happy with the results. I lifted the car up and removed the front tires to do this. Total time on this was 30 min. Really easy to do, especially with this "How to" write up, which is really well done BTW. I use the H11 bulbs and the difference is remarkable. Good write up!

Anyone know an easy way to disassemble the fog light housing? Replaced the bulb a couple days ago and the bulb exploded in the housing for some reason so now I gotta figure out a way to clean all the glass out of the housing... Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to do this!

Thanks so much for this! Did it yesterday and took almost an hour to break/crimp the reflector out of the first fog light housing, but after I figured out the method of pinching it with the needle nose pliers the second one was done in 5 minutes. Both of my factory fog lights went out within a day of each other, and so I replaced them with these.
I ended up taking the whole bumper off so that I didn't wreck something with the oil coolers while trying to reach the top screw.

lol i did this and it worked for the first one, the second one troubled me a little more. I was trying to move the broken park with a screw driver and I may have accidentally moved it a bit to hard and it cracked my lens. -_- I still manages to get out the broken part but now I have a broken lens. Do you think it'd still work, like not affect the bulb once I plug it back in?

I did this to my Mitsubishi's foglights. But without that reflector the beam is not ver good. Much more dispersed. The whole reason that reflector is there is to create a beam. I have these LEDs too. If you guys know where to get these reflectors / deflectors please fill me in!!

If your lense doesn't have an actual hole in it. U should be okay. If you start seeing moisture behind your lense. You should replace the lense considering it is getting to your bulbs
