there is a large pic of the 2004 mustang gt prototype and the article talks mainly about that and J Mays ford chief designer. he is responsible for generating new designs for ford,lincoln, volvo et al. now we know why the fender flares look like the mustang/ focus/audi tt. this guy was the lead designer on the new beetle and the audi tt before going to work for ford. so they didn't copy the design they stole the designer :D . anyway after a mention about the lincoln concept having no b pillar it says this:
But arriving as early as this june is the Mazda rx-8, also done under mays watch.
The rx-8,already boasting the no-b-pillar design, marks the return of Mazda's flagship sports car. The 6-speed manual transmission on this car,producing 247 horsepower, is the only way to properly experience this car's performance, though it does also come in a 207-horsepower automatic transmission.
