Introduced to Greatness!!!
So I purchased an 2009 RX-8 R3 in November. I've put 6500 miles on it already and I can honestly say I love my car and all it's little quirks. The only thing I have is the poor gas mileage and the slow off the line speed. But I was wondering what little modifications I can do to my car to make it look/sound better, and make it go slightly quicker? Any suggestions will be very very appreciated

Lol when I mean stand out...kinda like visual mods? I do plan on going to Gateway sometime soon to go see how fast my car really can go, preferably after I get all my little upgrades...visual and engine mods

don't drop the car, and you dont need a turbo charger, if you want to replace the low end torque get a super charger, it has plenty of get up on the top end. if you lower your car you ruin the balance of the suspension, its not needed to make the car stand out but it will change your performance. there are some upgrade kits for suspension but unless your going to switch to air ride dont bother the r3 is good enough.

welp, i hacked my own photobucket (it had been so long since i had used it i couldn't even remember my login name lol) and have some photos of the car as it sits today. it went from stock to what you see in this photos in just about 2-3 months. bought the car and immediately put on a rotary performance resonated midpipe, got jic flt-tar coilovers, hotchkis sway bars, AWR adjustable endlinks in june, july the car was at mazda with a busted shift fork, and in august carbon fiber hood, trunk, interior pieces, JIC 4-pt. strutbar, simota carbon fiber intake, and exoticspeed R1-T cat-back:
and this is from Turkey Drag 2009, a 2-day show centered around mini-trucks and bagged trucks but one of 5 cars that still made top 150 of the show. She's been to 5 shows and has 6 trophies or plaques to show so it's done quite well lol
hope you guys enjoy!

I would say get a nice set of springs, and a catless midpipe. This will give you the most power for the money, and some noise while the springs give you a better stance for looks.

This is mostly bad information. It's fine to lower your car, in fact it will lower your center of gravity and roll center and help handling and balance if done in moderation. Stay away from air ride if you want handling. It will absolutely ruin the way the suspension is designed to work,

The R3 is already set up with excellent suspension and lower profile 19" rims/tires, so I wouldn't further lower.
The OP cited "little mod's...slightly quicker", so FI (turbo or SC) would seem to be overkill. A good tune would be more in order.
Enjoy your R3 stock for awhile and then you'll get a better sense of the direction you'd like to go as far as mod's, if at all.

When I finally convince Izzy to get a straight pipe, I'll make sure we hit the dyno again to see what Hp it gives it over stock. We all know, straight pipes are the best bang for the buck.
There is that one thread I cannot find where someone has already turbo'd a Series II RX8 without having to do a swap.
For looks, I would get all RE- AMEMIYA..... best aftermarket body parts IMO. As far as performance, I would go with Racing Beat.

Thanks for all the replies! It is helping giving me a nice idea of whenever I get some extra spending money I'll be doing some of these cause I do love this car, and I wanna get it just a little more power and a little more standout. I do like the pics, but I won't straight out rip you off. How much is a carbon fiber hood? And worth it?
