Window Motor/Regulator Problem

Window Motor/Regulator Problem
Well, my drivers side window motor gave out and I sent it in to A1Cardone for a rebuild. When I took the motor out initially, all the pieces fell apart (cables came off the spool, etc.), but I thought "no big deal, how hard could it be to put it back together?" Anyways, I just finished putting the refurb back in, and the motor works fine, but I seem to have a bit of play in the regulator cable. It's not much, just about 1/2", but it causes some clunking and noise when I roll it up and down (cause explained later*) as well as a tiny bit of "lag" in the window movement.
So my question: Is there any way to adjust slack in the regulator cable?
I'm 99% sure I put everything back together correctly, but if someone has a diagram, that would be helpful.
*(Reference pic) The reason there is clunking is because the slack causes the blue plastic "plunger" things to pop out and become misaligned. And when I roll the window up or down, they snap back in place. if I could somehow take up the slack in the cable, they would stay in place and not be so damned noisy.

UPDATE:
forgot to give an update after i got everything fixed back in august. i figure any information is helpful for anyone else that has to do a window motor / regulator replacement... so the regulator cable somehow had some slack in it, probably due to 65k of use. i bought a new regulator from rock auto for $40 and now it's operating smoothly. pretty quick to replace as well. took about 2 hours start to finish.
