"New" 2004 Nordic Green
Hey Guys,
Just hopped on board the rotary club and picked up a 2004 this afternoon. It IS an automatic, unfortunately (it's actually the wife's car), but it's fully loaded otherwise, with only 27k on the clock and we got it for $11,990. I was just wondering...what disc is the navigation system looking for...and where can I find one?
Other than that...I do feel I'd be happier with the 6 valve manual engine, but the car is a blast to drive as it is. Looking forward to getting to know the car more and more all the time

Nav system is looking for a Mazda-specific (maybe RX-8 specific) DVD. Maybe you can lean on whoever you bought the car from to search their belongings for the disc.
You can buy one from Mazda for about $200. You can also buy one from Navteq for about the same...look for the updated map section at Navteq's web site. Current disc is 2008.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. So far, all I can complain about with the car is gas mileage, which i expected...and a cd player that isn't working. It's one of the in-dash 6-cd changers. Is it possible to replace them with aftermarket, or is it all one unit with the climate control and all?

For the CD player, I did not have the changer, but used the GROM. http://www.gromaudio.com/
It acts like a CD player (you get 6 sets of music, but each is up to 100 songs) but plays off a memory stick. They also have IPOD integration as well. You need to have a head unit of a specific revision. This forum, or the GROM site, will tell you how to check. The steering wheel controls and face plate controls all work.
Good luck.

Nice car, great deal! Ive seen same year and option RX8s with double the miles selling for more.
Enjoy the car, be sure to read the owners manual.
Couple quick things for a noob to know.
-Be sure to check your oil every 2-3 fillups (its normal for an RX8 to need a quart of oil every 1000-1500 miles, burns oil by design).
-Be sure to give it a nice run up to redline in 2nd gear often to keep the engine free of carbon.
-Let her warm up until the needle moves, dont shut it down until its warmed up.
Just the basics of the series I, sure you already knew but if you didnt, now you do
