I launch at 4000 rpms just to not spin the rears too much. I guess your launching speed should be whatever you are comfortable with for a smooth take off. it's not a drag race so it doesn't really matter that much unless you are racing to the first corner.

Hope this isn't a thread jack - it's a related question from a newbie. By launching at 4-5K, is it a given that you're going to need to replace the clutch earlier? I'm not a track guy, but I'm interested in knowing what RPM from a dead stop gives you the most acceleration without damaging the clutch.

I consistently get the best launches dropping from 7k. That is me though, your tire compound, tire width, size, power, etc probably varies, so your launch rpm might as well.
As long as you dont slip the clutch, there isnt tons of clutch wear. but sudden grabbing does apply shock to the drivetrain. So pick one between A) granny launch, B) clutch burning slip, or C) possible drive train snapping shock.

It depends whether the early lead to the first corner will yield any positive result for the rest of the race, if it doesn't then there is no point to put extra stress on the clutch.
