Can anyone help me with warning lights?

Hi,

I must confess that I'm a very new here because I just got the car 3 days ago. The thing is when I drive the car, sometimes the coolant warning light appears for a while and then disappears. The engine oil acts exactly the same way. I tried to check the coolant and I think it's still at the point it should be. The oil engine gauge is a little bit over the middle line. Can anyone give me ideas what is going on?

My car is 2005 manual (the previous owner said mazda already replaced its engine about 2007)

Thanks so much,

Practice those searching skills and you'll discover that this is a known problem with the sensor in the reservoir.
As long as you verified that the coolant level is good

Yeah, you should search!

First off, you can't just replace the sensor in the coolant tank!
It is a known issue and the only way to get rid of the light is to either get a new tank, or unplug the sensor and check your level often. YOu could take out the coolant tank and try to clean it, but that usually only lasts for a little while.
Oil..............check your oil level. This car is designed to burn oil, you know that right?
You should be checking the oil level about every two gas fillups and keeping it close to the full mark. Use the dipstick and check it, that's what it's there for. FYI...............don't overfill it or it will possibly lead to other issues. The oil gauge is a dummy gauge, and that's where it will sit....until it's too late!

Doesn't sound like you have a manual for this car?
Let's practice your search skills.
There are posts/threads on this site that will tell you where you can go download one for free. Let's see if you can locate one.

Just so you are aware, the engine oil pressure gauge on the dash is an idiot gauge, its either ON or OFF. Its is effectively useless. It will not tell you that you are low on oil, you must check the dipstick yourself every 2 fills, depending on driving style.
