Road & Track
In the Feb issue of Road & Track The Editor-in-chief seems to be very impressed with the 8 he drove in Japan. He writes. "The high power unit has pretty good low-end pick up and then hits it's stride as you reach the mid-rpm range and head on up to the redline at 8500rpm."
"The RX-8 engine zips up the rev range very qickly, producing wonderful acceleration with so little fuss. The handling of the car is also delightful, with fine turn-in from the steering, decent ride character and excellent ability to stick in the corners. There is a touch of oversteer that can be induced if you like, which makes the Mazda great fun at the track."
"Accomodations are just fine in the front individual seats and even in the two rear buckets--four adults actually will fit in this car comfortably."
"Whether Mazda convinces a lot of people that this is a sports car it is without doubt a hugely entertaining and exciting car to drive. Great engine, excellent gearbox, comfortable ergonomics and superior handling add up to a car that enthusiasts will welcome-with the bonus of taking along a couple of extra people.
I'm looking forward to the reviews from Leguna Seca.
