ABS + Stability control light (C1290)
Hi
My ABS and stability control light are lightening up at the same time when I brake. (Disapear when I turn off the car, and light up again when I brake(after a couple of times)) The error code is C1290 (Meaning a problem with Brake fluid pressure sensor system.) My brake fluid is clean, the sensor connector has been cleaned also...
Mazda dealer told me they need to replace the ENTIRE hydraulic block(including the famous sensor) because Mazda is not selling the sensor by itself.... Price for the replacement : 2600$
I am pretty sure there is another solution someone here might know. PLEASE let me know !
Thank you !

Those two lights have been doing that for two weeks now, doesn't seem to interfere with the normal driving of the car, I have not tried the ABS while the light is on just to see if they are working. Usually restarting the car will make them go out, for a while anyhow.

The light didn't get on in the last 5 days.... 2 weeks ago, it was very intense (when I am breaking). I bought a OBD2 reader and didn't detect the problem related to this...

Hi Yiksing and Tomza87
Not related to the cleaning, because it was worst for a week after that cleaning. I expect the lights to come back soon. Only a matter of time I guess. (I wish I am wrong)
Tomza87 : It is affecting the driving condition, I don't know where you live, but if you use your car during the winter, you should see a difference on snow and ice. Stability and ABS are turned off when the lights stays on...

Get a second opinion but it doesnt sound like something to just shrug off. May not be same topic but I drove my 8 in the snow one year with traction control on and was driving straight and not accelerating just gliding but all the sudden spun out of control. Any thoughts why? All I know is I turned the Traction control off and had no problems and to this day leave it off in bad weather. I dont know if what I am saying is safe and dont take my advice but that scared me.

My car is currently in the garage for the winter. But before I store it, some days, the lights are always on, and some weeks, everything is fine. I think it's a bad connection somewhere. I noticed it's worst when it's raining. ( Creating bad connection or because ABS are more sollicitated)
I kept the car as is for the moment. I didn't found a chepaer solution.
The garagist took the sensor out and clean all connection. Low % of success, but cheap to do.
