FL headliner water leak

i need help ASAP!

Yesterday after work i went in my car and noticed on the driver seat a few wet spots (drops), when i looked up the section where the headliner meets the hard airbag plastic cover was soaked to the point where i would squeeze it and more than a few drops came out.

***IT'S THE ONLY PART OF THE HEADLINER THAT IS WET, APPROXIMATELY 3 INCHES***

i called the dealer but my warranty expired 7 days ago

i also checked the gasket and it looks fine so i really dont know what to do!

Any ideas what it may be????

Picture would help, but first guesses are either separation of the windshield gasket from the body of the vehicle or deterioration/rot of the gasket itself. Second guess which would have the same effect is body rust up under the gasket which is either lifting the gasket allowing for a channel to form through which water can penetrate or corrosion to the point where water is seeping under the gasket.

I haven't seen this before in the RX8, but I had an old Chevy Blazer years ago that rusted up underneath the windshield gasket causing a leak - presume rust got started after taking a stone hit in that area from debris kicked up off the road by a vehicle I was following on a highway.

Have you had the vehicle out in a rain storm or through a car wash recently which would have forced water through the gasket at greater pressure than just being parked outside in a rain storm?

Thanks replying, the car was in the parking lot and it rained, when I left work I noticed. I'm gonna check the windshield gasket, I was told the sunroof drains could be clogged with dirt making the water go in the headline. I used a compressor to blow air in it.... I hope it solves my problem.....

Same issue

I have the same issue in the same spot. I had the drains cleaned the gasket look great... what the hell. I'm even finding it to be a pain to find a shop to find this leak. The dealership wants $100 just to find this damn leak. Any clue on the source? How can I take the headliner out? Maybe I can find this beast myself.

Mine stopped a while back... I stuck a paper towel where the windshield meets the roof between the roof and liner about 6 inches away from the plastic piece on the corner and that's where the water was coming from.. Hope that helps
