Battery is a good place to start.
Take it out and have it tested at the local auto store.

Where you doing any work to the car prior that could have blown a fuse (like the 120A fuse)?

have you checked the terminals are clean and well connected? if they are then either charge the battery or get a new one.

check your trunk is closed and your interior dome light is set to off or door and not on.

Did you check the battery connections?
Still appears to be the battery or connection to.

To reset the DSC, turn the steering wheel fully clockwise, then fully counter-clockwise.
The traction control light will be off the next time you run the car.

Loose battery connection, those symptoms are what happens in that case.

the battery terminals and connections appeared to be fine, everything was nice and snug. but the battery itself isnt in the best shape, there is quite a bit of corrosion around

take the battery connections off. Clean them with baking soda and water. Then replace them and tighten them up well.

Is it cranking but just not starting?
If so, it wouldn't surprise me if its flooded now.

If its not cranking, follow the negative cable down to the cross member, remove the bolt and clean the terminal.

Is this an MT?
If so, reach down to the clutch pedal and press in the interlock switch with your finger and try starting (no need to press the pedal in at this point).

its not cranking, theres nothing, no power, no radio, but lights and dash lights do work

and yes it is a MT

and in regards to the 120a fuse, could this be the culprit? how can you tell if its blown?

OK... then check the negative cable like I explained above.
Also, check the 120A MAIN fuse on the side of the fuse panel.
The clutch interlock switch isn't the problem in this case.

Its as little different, but pretty similar concept:

Umm... no... not normal...
Its likely that its blown, but while messing with it, it managed to arch across.
Disconnect the battery and remove the fuse.
Those two bolts securing the fuse is 8mm.

is it possible that most stores or dealers would have a 120a fuse? or must it be ordered from mazda?

if it is the 120a fuse, any ideas on what could have caused it to blow?
