April 18, MAX-18 Autocross, Rosecroft Raceway, MD
Registration is now open for the next Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington autocross school for fun and practice. You can register for either the morning or afternoon session. Split sessions mean you will have less wait time between runs.
Here's your chance to get in a little practice before RevItUP!
FEE: $25 for MSCW and Capital Driving Club members, others $30
Helmet rental, if you don't have your own safety approved helmet, is $3.
For those new to the Autocrossing, this is a great low-cost way to check it out and see if it is for you. It is also a great way to learn more about the handling of your car on a course where only orange cones stand in your way. And you don't need anything special other than an approved helmet. Speeds seldom exceed 35mph. Instructors will be avaialble to advise you. CAUTION: It has been determined by previous novices to be addictive:D

They offered the 18th and our coordinator grabbed it before someone else did.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington, Inc.
Mazda Autocross (MAX-18)
Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines for MSCW’s Mazda Autocross (MAX-18) on Sunday, April 18. Note the date change to Sunday, April 18 from April 25, scheduling conflicts and sharing the lot with rugby tournament parking precluded the 25th.
MAX-18 will feature loads of seat time on a brand new course, designed to offer elements one will encounter at Rev It Up. We have divided the event into morning and afternoon sessions to get you back on course sooner by cutting your wait times in half. Participants in either session will receive the same time on course. As our first autocross of the 2004 season and a prelude to Mazda’s Rev It Up event on May 1 & 2; MAX-18 will feature an introduction to autocrossing followed up by discussions on advance techniques. We have arranged for MSCW Instructors to be on hand during the training sessions. To facilitate event logistics, experienced autocrossers should sign up for the morning session and those new to autocrossing the afternoon session. One may of course sign up for either session as desired.
As a member benefit the first 12 or so MSCW Members who register will be eligible for a free pass* to Mazda’s Rev It Up event at FedEx field. Registration is by receipt of hardcopy application and fee sorted by postmark date. The online application facilitates event planning but is not considered the official registration. Note space is limited… sign up early. Application OPEN.
April 18 - Schedule:
7:00 Course set up
8:30 Morning Driver’s meeting, course walk
9:00 Morning session cars on-course
12:30 Afternoon Driver’s meeting, course walk
1:00 Afternoon session, cars on-course
* Contingent upon MSCW receiving the free passes.
MAX-18 Fees:
· $25 MSCW and Capital Driving Club members, Non-members $30,
· $3 helmet rental
· All cancellations subject to $20 processing fee.
· No refunds after Sunday, April 11, 2004, 6:00 PM EST, forfeiture of fee if spot not resold. Substitutions allowed, provided they complete the pre-inspection and provide advance notice (by Friday, April 16, 2004 by 6:00 PM EST)
For more information please email Dave at MazdaClub@aol.com, use the title MAX-18… in the subject line.
Regards,
Dave Nugent
