Buy from Wayne Mazda?
Hey, I'm sorry if this is too "Dealership Pricing" and such for this part of the forum, but here goes.
Getting ready to buy my 8 within a month (I hope...) I've been talking to people at Wayne Mazda and was wondering if anyone has had a good/bad expierience there. I'm going to go around to other dealers as well, but they are the largest Mazda dealer in my area and I'm figuring that I'll get the best price from them in the end anyway. I'm currently working with James if anyone knows him.
Has anyone been able to get thier car at invoice from them or from any other N. NJ or S. NY dealer? I'd like a 6spd GT but I'll have to settle for probably a 6spd sport if I can't get down to at least invoice.
Suggestions/Comments/Help?!
Thanks,
The Colonel

I did not have a good experience at Wayne Mazda.
I did deal with Jose and I think he is an upstanding salesperson. If you are going to buy from Wayne Mazda, I would agree, deal with Jose.
As for my experience with Wayne Mazda, it came down to delivery date, and a few other issues. I have the S-Plan, so I didn't have to negotiate invoice. There were a few accessories that I wanted, and they wanted to charge me retail w/ labor. I was able to negotiate around that. They wanted to charge me documentation fees and a credit inquiry fee. Once again I had to negotiate out of that. Finally they said my car was going to be ready in about two weeks. Two weeks later, they said 1 more week. Mind you, I picked the car from the Mazda USA website, it was part of their inventory, but apparently at the port. I called in 1 more week and they still didn't have the car. I got nervous because the car I had was leased and due in a couple of weeks. I got the story that the car was at the docks and if they accepted deilvery of my car they would have to take delivery of a truck load of 8's and their lot was full. They then stated that they checked all over NJ, PA, and NY looking for the car at another dealer, to no avail. I went back on Mazda USA and found the car at Shrewsbury Mazda (definitely recommend). So their search wasn't too throrough. I called Shrewsbury and they honored the S-plan and I actually got a better deal on Lo-Jack. When I asked Wayne Mazda for my deposit back, they at first argued, but gave it back. They tried telling me they would give me a price thousand's off the invoice, which I didn't believe for a minute. They did make good by giving me two free oil changes.
In summary, I would have glowing recommendations if they were up front with me about what really was going on. I still feel Jose was good to deal with there, just beware of the management and suprise charges.

Thanks for the replies. If something goes wrong with James, I'll be sure to ask for Jose. I'll also keep those fees in mind and make sure while negotiating I say "$XX,XXX + tt&l + nothing else right?"

I also have purchaced my 8 at wayne mazda. There is another thread about the dealer (very negitive in nature), which was more about sour grapes in my belief. I would suggest be aware of the extras, and don't be concerned about walking out if you don't like it. Nothing makes a more power postition if you stand up and walk away from the deal without complaning or yelling. I got a little bit of a run around like dag, but once a walked away from the salesman and headed towards the door things changed in a hurry.
My over all statement is you are dealing with salesman, it is there job to get the most money out of you, so be willing to walk away.

James and Chris are good salesmen to talk to at wayne mazda. i bought my 8 at wayne and they were great to me. The service manager, Steve, is also a great guy. i was having trouble with my car and this auto-starter that i was trying to put in and steve worked personally on my car when things went wrong. and got them fixed that day.
