DIY: Sirius XM antenna mount on top of roof
Hi everyone. This DIY is for how to install a Sirius XM antenna on top of roof, on the contrary of it being on your trunk. It took me about 30 minutes, and went through an antenna just trying to run it along the windshield. This DIY should work just fine if you take your time.
You will need:
Two tools with thin ends, like a razor blade, or phillips head screwdriver
Antenna
Patience
Above, I have posted a couple pictures of the finished antenna install. What you'll need to know is starting from the lower right of the windshield, stick a thin tool to the right of the sealing part and lift up. You should be lifting up enough to stick the wire through. The wire needs to be run through the interior, and out and up to where the windshield starts.
Use the second tool to run the wire up, while lifting with the first tool for the sealant part of the windshield. You need to be careful not to ruin your antenna wire. Needless to say you have to use these steps to run the wire all the way up through the side (I chose right) of the windshield, and then up through the center. Leave just enough antenna to run from the center of the roof, through the windshield, and THEN into the interior of the car. You'll see what I am talking about.
Message me with any questions.
Chad
