650 mile roadtrip, and only 1 sighting...
Just got back from a 650 mile roadtrip this weekend. Drove down from NJ to Richmond VA to see the NASCAR race on Saturday night.
The drive down was on Friday. I drove 206, Princeton Pike, 295, Del Mem Br, then 95 south to Balitmore Harbor. No sightings.
Visited with a friend on his sailboat -very cool!
Hit the road again around 2 - taking 95 through the tunnel, to 295 (Balt-Wash Parkway). Saw two Stealth Fighters flying in to land at Andrews AFB - WAY KEWL! Continued to 495, to 5 to 301, all the way to Parham Rd nr Richmont. The 95 again to 195, to Powhite Pkwy to Midlothian. Still no sightings.
Gas mileage was really good. Average speed was 60-70MPH, filled up at 300 miles with 12 gallons - 25mpg.
The race was great. 'Nuff said!
Leaving Richmond today, I retraced the same route, except stayed on 301 to 50/301 in Maryland.
Wow, and RX-8 sighting! on 50/301 east, heading towards the Bay Bridge / Annapolis at 3:30pm - Brilliant Black.
Continued 301 to 896 to 95. 95 was a parking lot - so I backed up the ramp, and scooted over to 40 to 13 to 95 to Del Mem Bridge and 295 back home. No more sightings.
Hmm - where is everyone? I thought I'd see a lot more on the road!

The 350Z costs more than the RX-8, and is less practical (2 seats, rough ride), yet you see them everywhere. Give it a year or two, and you'll be wishing they weren't everywhere

During the day, before the race, the sun was VERY hot, but the evening weather for the race was perfect.
I had one of my handheld ham-radios with me that we used to listen to some of the driver chatter, as well as the radio broadcast on their uplink frequency. It was a real good race, and we had a great time.

Just drove from Hampton, VA to Patchogue, NY to Derby, CT and back. Did not see one other 8 the entire trip until I got within 1 mile of my house. Then I saw 2 others within seconds of each other. Did have a nice little run with a WRX from Cheasepeake Bay Bridge tunnel to just past Saint Georges, DE. About a 190 miles at a nice spirited pace

I know I, at least, was avoiding the races and the traffic that they cause, so that may be part of the reason you didn't see us in Richmond. There are quite a few of us, we're just out at weird times, I guess. I drove up to Alexandria and back yesterday on 95 during rush hour, and didn't see a single 8 either, which was weird because I'm used to seeing them all over the place down here.

I went past 3000 this past week, I'm such a baby :D But when I take it to Canada this year that should easily put 1500 on my odo. I haven't seen any RX8 ever since I started driving mine on the roads and highways!! None Rt.295 when I'm around, and see a couple 350Zs, Porches and one new M3.
