Hood popped open while driving
I checked my oil level yesterday in my garage. Then when I was done with the operation I just dropped the hood from about 8-10 inches height. As always, this time I also made sure that the hood and the rest of the chassis line up properly to see that it is indeed locked. Everything looked just ok.
In about an hour, I went for a drive and was cruising at about 55 on the interstate when I heard a clanking sound and saw the hood bounce a little. I slowed down but could not pull over immediately due to traffic. Finally, I made it to a full stop and relocked the hood. Now it looks ok just like it did before but now I am concerned that this may happed again.
Just thought I'd share this so that you guys know to double check the hood everytime you have some business to take care of there.

I did that to my 300ZX on New Years Eve in 1999 - I blamed it on a Y2k bug when in fact it was my idiot girlfriend. Luckily my windshield wasn't smashed either, but the hood was ruined.

Well, I was very lucky in that the safety latch held it down so it did not flip up against the windshield. It just became unlocked and I only saw a 1 inch bounce.

Maybe it's the green, Erik :D
I like my Nordic Green, also. I've noticed that the hood is quite light and I drop mine from maybe 18" and it's always latched securely. It may be that your latch and/or your rubber height stops for the hood need to be slightly adjusted. If the hood closes to the right height for the hood/fender gap, it's the latch. If your not good with tooly type things, get your dealer to adjust it. If you are, it's an easy adjustment.

Yeah, Kwullen, it must be the green...
Anyway, the hood and the fenders line up perfectly. I am going to take a look at the adjustment you are taling about. I do virtually all the work on my car so I don't think this should be an exception.
Thanks for the advice!
