rarity of lightning yellows
being the proud owner of a yellow gt for the pat 2 months i must say i've had a blast thus far, the looks, the comments, the angry glares, everything works, and especially if u drive a yellow 8 which can be spotted from very far away. i am still dismayed at the fact that at my dealership only sold 1 other yellow 8 , this seems to be a trend wiht all yellow 8's and the last thing i heard from my rep was that yellow is being taken out of production in favor of the white 8 which is currently sold in the pacific region. i would just like to give a shout out to all yellow 8 owners as we drive a very rare color which might be exticnt in the coming months,
kick *** on the road everyone !

I never see yellow RX-8s on the road. Reminds me of the yellow 92 Miata, where they made and sold only 1,519 of them. I bought one used, which had sat on the lot for a year before the previous owner bought it.
Sometimes yellow just doesn't sell well. Other times it seems very popular. It was really big a few years ago but seems to be on the wane now.
I almost bought a yellow RX-8, but there's maybe a little too much green in the color for my taste. I like the sunburst yellow of the 92 Miata better; it's pretty much an exact copy of Fly Yellow (a Ferrari color). But I bet the RX-8s become collectible, since they're discontinuing that color.

I think a lot of people love the yellow RX8...me included...but they are too chicken to own one, me included. My black is stealthy...haven't been busted...but I'm sure in a yellow, I would have a bunch of tickets.

Stuck in a love triangle
I haveonly seen a yellow Rx8 once when I droveto a section of town that I never venture to. I stillhave never seen a Nordic green though. I figure the problem w/that is most people are taking black over the green since the green is too dark and resembles black too much. Ithink some type of flashy neon green would have looked really good on the Rx8 butusually you only see that color as a custom paint job not fromthe factory. Itprobably would havebeen neat if they replaced nordic green witha flashier green for 2005.

I've seen more Nordic Green RX-8's than the yellow ones. There are always yellow ones for sale at my dealership. I just can't wait for gold metalflake to come out :D.

I love my yellow. I bought it to be rare and stand out. The other colors are great but, they tend to blend in.My dealer has only had 3 and there are only 8 left within 150 miles for sale.( the closest to me is 100 miles)Was at the dealer yesterday and they said people have been asking about yellow now that its gone. I do not think they will have trouble selling the few yellows left. What i want to know is .Will they release sales figuires and color brake downs after the 2005 comes out? or is that keep within the company?
Just noticed, i too have had my yellow two months. ZOOM ZOOM

You're getting angy stares 'cus you're blinding them with your car! I live in a small town and have only seen one 8 in town. You can't miss it, it's yellow. My friend owns a Ti-gray and I think it makes the car look meaner.

I wanted a "I'm Over Here, Officer" yellow 8, but I opted for the seemingly as rare (or rarer) Nordic "Not as Noticable" Green. But that didn't stop me from getting a ticket from the nice officer parked one block from my house in a quiet residential neighborhood at @$$ thirty in the morning. 34 in a 25. How lame.
Oh, and even though the Nordic Green is close to black, it doesn't truly look great until a nice coat of Zanio has been applied. It really brings out all of the metal flake in the green.

Yellow is a very cool color and I think current owners should be excited that they will have probably the rarest of Rx8s. Think about CYM owners of the third gens.
I love the green as well, but I had to go with something a little brighter for myself.

Original Turbo 'd Auto !!
Little History.
Usually Mazda only released yellow as a color option on the first model year a car was released. Noticed I said "Usually". The '93 FD was offered in the awe inspiring CYM. only for that year though. If my info is correct the 87 FS was availble in yellow, but only for that year.
Few reasons I didn't go with a Black Car. I traded in a Black Truck. looks cool as all when clean ,but S*#@y when dirty. Fav color is Blue, But too many people have Blue cars in AZ.
I agree the yellow Just Screams right out at you. For the Brave, insane ones of us that bought the Yellow 8 I say this, Rock on my Brothers and Sisters !!!

I checked the mazda inventory with in 50 miles of where i live (Eastern PA), let me tell you they are just not selling. Soon enough they will all be gone though, and we will see more. There are currently 6 yellow rx8s at my local dealership, and 79 at dealerships within 50 miles of me, so in my area I'll be seeing plenty of them before too long. I believe it is the least produced color for 2004, and mazda is smart to change to white, because they will be the last to go in 2004. There's still plenty of yellow ones left for sale, so anyone planning to buy an rx8 can get there's very easily.

glad I got my yellow, almost got a green but the dealership made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the yellow so I went for it, never regretted it one bit, they really look exotic, especially with tint.

I love my yellow. Love at first sight. Was gonna originally get black, but the yellow just kept calling my name. Didn't want red - always had a red car, and wanted something different. The Ti Grey is really sweet too - more of a muscle car look.

I think the 8 looks fantastic in yellow. If I had the opportunity to do it again (my dealer didn't have yellow in stock and I had to move quickly) I would get yellow. The dealer down the street from my new office has yellow and red in stock and I covet both of them.
My car is silver -- at the end of the day, the car looks great in silver, gets tons of attention and always looks clean. Silver in particular shows off the lines of the car best in my opinion. That said, I would choose yellow next time.
Last, Lightening yellow is a great shade of yellow...

I have had mine since November and have never seen another one on the road. This is precisely why I got yellow, and because it is my favorite color. I next want a yellow Corvette (preferably the 2004 Z06 model with some work done by Lingenfelter) and a yellow Porsche 911 Turbo, or GT2 if that is what it takes to get it in yellow.
Yellow just makes the car look like it's flying down the road. And because my last ticket slowed me down four years ago I can afford to look like I am speeding rather than paying for it.
As for cops, don't speed and you will not need to worry. My wife refuses to pass a cop, even if they are going 60 in a 70. She is very paranoid about this and gets very very nervous when I pass them up. Dunno why, but she can't stand it.

I saw the yellow a while back at a dealership, it was in the showroom with the lights off and it looked too pale to me. After seeing it in the sunlight i can say it is in fact a very nice color.Congrats to all of you with yellow.

yea i walked in the dealership wanting black drove out yellow, irony. To be honest if mazda had a white one I probably would've pick a white one up instead, now that I found out that its discontinued no regrets at all . Regarding passing an officer i guess it's a respect thing and I have respected that everytime I see an officer I make sure I brake and slow down.
