State trooper was pretty cool.
This morning, I was pulled over for speeding by a state trooper. He asked me a bunch of questions about the car's top speed, acceleration, suicide doors, etc. I was afraid to answer the top speed question 'cuz I felt it might be a loaded question. He was like, "Naw, seriously. I sat in one at this year's autoshow and think the RX-8's are really nice." He left me off with a warning, told me to slow down (which I did), and let me know there were a bunch more troopers down the road (which there were).

Yesterday I was driving home and a Highway patrol pulled up behind me and then next to me, I wasn't paying much attention to him since I was going the speed limit, and then I see something in my peripheral vision, I look over and he's waving, gives me a thumbs up and yells "Nice car" and I said "Thanks, me too!" I look up find I'm almost off the road near a curb and I weve a little bit and felt a little embarrased.

I had a similar experience as Cap, at a DWI check point in Rio Rancho NM where the cops will give you a ticket for 1 mile over the speed limit. My radar was blaring as I approached the check point. The officer gave the standard DWI speech and asks if I had anything to drink. Of course I said no. The then asked me to step out of the car so he can check it out. I thought he was going to check for drugs or something. When I stepped out all the cops surrounded my car and started looking in. But they were not looking for drugs but asking me all kind of questions about my car like how much I paid what features it has, how fast I have taken it, etc… One of the officers asked if he could sit in it so I said no problem. So he sat down and lowered the volume of my radar still blearing. As this was going on cars were lining up behind me probably wondering what the hell was going on. The officers got out and said have a nice day. I was really surprised because Rio Rancho cops don’t usually have a since of humor to begin with and will even give you a ticket for speeding in a business parking lot.

Got ticket for 71 in 55, no questions, no compliments, no mercy. Actually, he was an ok guy just doing his job. I deserved the ticket, its a fairly empty stretch of 4 lane divided highway that represents no hazard but is a well known speed trap for revenue purposes. I should have been going slower.
